After the plane door is closed, why can’t I board the plane? Can it not be opened again?

According to regulations, there are no special circumstances after the aircraft is closed. In addition to the fact that the hatch can no longer be opened, it also needs to be inventoried. The purpose of the inventory is to reconcile the manifest. Some passengers won't get on the plane, but they will check their luggage. If they're not getting on the plane, they need to pack less. Also, the number of passengers is wrong, which involves aircraft balancing, so only passengers and manifests can go.

Similarly, if the plane is 20 minutes or even half an hour before departure, you will be told that you cannot check in. Why? Why can't boarding a plane be like boarding a train a few minutes before departure?

Many passengers think that the departure time should be the time when the plane leaves the ground. However, according to relevant civil aviation regulations, the departure time announced to passengers in the schedule refers to the time when ground support work is completed and the passenger and cargo door is closed, not the time when the aircraft takes off from the ground.

So, what do airport staff do between stopping check-in and closing the door? It is reported that the following work should be done:

1. Count the number of passengers and baggage by check-in and stowage personnel, calculate the aircraft load based on the cargo volume, draw the balance sheet and center of gravity position, fill in the manifest, and submit it to the crew for signature;

2. Board the plane Check passengers’ checked baggage beforehand;

3. Check the safety of passengers who have checked in;

4. The announcement will notify passengers to check in at the designated boarding gate and guide them to board the plane. If boarding passengers need to be transported by ferry, the time will be longer;

Flight attendants should count the number of passengers and check with the ground ticket check to prevent missing passengers. Then make preparations before the plane takes off, explain to passengers the relevant precautions and usage of the equipment on the plane, check whether the luggage is placed on the luggage rack, and whether the passenger's seat belt is fastened, etc.

To sum up, from suspending check-in to closing doors, airports still have a lot of work to do. If there is a slight delay, the flight may be delayed.

In order to allow passengers enough time to check in, the Civil Aviation Administration of China clearly stipulates in the "Public Air Transport Service Rules" that the check-in time for aircraft with less than 100 seats shall not be later than 60 minutes before departure, and no later than 90 minutes for aircraft with more than 100 seats.

Therefore, passengers should have a strong sense of punctuality, check in at the airport as early as possible, and wait in the designated area.

In order to make the plane take off safely on time and maintain the airport's operational order, it is not advisable to open the door a second time. Only the crew has the authority to decide whether to open the door after it is closed. However, the crew's opinion is always the same, no door is allowed! This has nothing to do with humanization and dehumanization. The interests of the majority of people on the plane come first. If someone misses their flight, they will have to bear the consequences and losses themselves.
