Is a master of law good for employment?

The employment of LLM is generally good, but the trend is definitely getting worse and worse than in previous years. For example, around 2007, many LLM graduates from famous schools went to work in national ministries and commissions, and some people in the high courts and high-level inspections of provinces or municipalities directly under the Central Government were able to enter. The headquarters of the five major banks or the provincial banks were also very good before, and a large number of law graduates entered their posts every year. However, in the past two years, even if the graduates of Peking University Master of Laws have the opportunity to go to the district legal inspection in Beijing, or even the legal inspection work in suburban counties, everyone still feels good.

I don't mean to hurt you, but I hope all your comrades-in-arms don't think that getting a master's degree in law will be all right. There is still a lot of work for you to do during graduate school. A more objective understanding of employment is good for all comrades. Why is the employment of Master of Laws not as good as in previous years? Personally, there are several reasons: First, the overall employment situation of graduate students is not as good as in previous years. Not only the master of law, but also the employment situation of graduate students in other majors is declining. Now there are more and more master's students enrolled. For example, many undergraduate students enroll 7,000 students a year, and there are more than 4,000 masters and doctors. A master's degree in a university can easily recruit thousands of people. With so many universities in China, the number of graduate students who graduate each year can be imagined. There are more people and more competition, so the situation is not as good as in previous years.

Secondly, LLM enrolls more and more students, and the number of enrollment institutions has increased from 8 to 20 1 home! Although this 20 1 LLM college covers almost the best law schools in China, there are also many colleges with very general comprehensive strength and legal strength. LL.M. graduates from famous universities are certainly relatively easy to find jobs, but what about those graduates from non-famous universities? If they don't work hard enough, if they don't have enough external help, how can they compete with graduates from famous universities?

Third, the civil service and legal inspection system had a big team expansion around 2009. I told me this view from a friend who works in the court. He said that many positions in the national or provincial examinations were recruited at that time. To this end, I also checked the position table of civil servants in the national examination for many years. It is true that many very good central ministries and commissions were recruiting people in the early days, and there were still many people recruited, but not many people were recruited by many ministries and commissions behind. I read 20 15 and 20 16 national examination positions, and found that a large number of positions were in customs, national tax and so on in various cities and counties. There really aren't many good jobs in Beijing. On the one hand, I have to say the good side of LLM employment. As you must know, Master of Laws has its full advantages over other majors. Speaking of employment, I think the specific advantages of LLM employment are as follows:

1. The employment rate of LLM is better. As mentioned above, some masters of law from famous schools are reluctant to go to the grassroots legal inspection in remote counties in the early days, but many masters of other majors may not get in or even have a chance. For example, you have only passed one teacher's exam and have not received systematic education such as law and master of law. Of course, you are not qualified to enter the legal inspection system. Although the employment of master of laws in recent years is far less than that in earlier years, it still has a good prospect on the whole, which is why there are more and more candidates for master of laws.

2. The LLM has a wide range of employment. Master of law can take an examination of civil servants to work in the government and public security system, banks, trusts, securities and other financial and securities companies, as well as various enterprises, and finally become lawyers! All walks of life may have our master of law. At the moment when disputes or contradictions are more public relief, legal personnel are active in all walks of life. There are not many majors with such a wide range of employment as master of law, which is undoubtedly a big advantage for us.

3. It is difficult for LLM to be unemployed or hungry. First, he has obtained a master's degree in law, and he will certainly pass the teacher's examination during his master's degree. It is relatively easy for the LLM to pass the division examination. Almost 65,438+000% of the LLM students in slightly better schools passed the teachers' examination before graduation. After passing the teacher's examination, LLM has greatly improved its employment and work quality.

In fact, LLM still has many advantages in employment, but I think the above three points are enough to explain the problem.
