Fudan really tests strength. First of all, it does not provide past test questions, giving you a hazy beauty, but this haziness can sometimes drive you crazy because you will feel very unsure. Secondly, even if you find out some past test questions from forums or from seniors who have taken the exam, when you go to the battlefield, you will find that Fudan is not a second-rate university that follows common sense. It is always ever-changing. For example, before the exam, I learned that Fudan’s French exam is very basic and pays great attention to grammar. I think the French test in 2011 was still relatively difficult. I have taken real test questions from Beijing Normal University, Shanghai Foreign Studies University, Foreign Economic and Trade, China Normal University, Zhejiang University and other schools before. Among them, only the French test at Beijing Normal University is as difficult as the 2011 Fudan French test. Others are very simple compared to others. This year's translation is different from previous years. The Chinese translation and the French translation are both paragraphs. What I was most afraid of before taking the exam was basic English, but this year’s basic English really surprised me. First of all, I didn’t prepare for the 20-point vocabulary question and didn’t memorize the GRE There are not many idioms or verb collocations collected. But coincidentally, this question type was canceled this year, haha. There are 100 points for translation and 50 points for composition. I took the postgraduate entrance examination in 2010, majoring in English and American Literature at Fudan, with a total score of 379. I took the postgraduate entrance examination for the second time. I passed the entrance examination last year, but my professional performance was very poor and I failed. I was very reluctant and decided to take the exam again. I spent a long time choosing a school, and it wasn’t until October last year that I decided to take the English test at Fudan University.

During the four years of college, I spent a lot of time reading a lot of original novels and magazines such as TIME, so I didn’t prepare much for basic English because Fudan didn’t provide reference books. So it mainly depends on your daily accumulation. I spent most of my energy on professional courses. Because the school offers relatively few literature courses during the undergraduate period, and the postgraduate entrance examinations are not divided into different directions, and all I read are Zhang Peiji's translations, so I need to be well prepared for literature. A classmate of mine was admitted to Fudan University for English and American Literature last year. She recommended to me the two literary histories by Chang Yaoxin, so I focused on these two books.

To be more specific, the question types of the literary history test papers change every year. For example, when my classmates took the test, the first question required writers of 10 works, while when I took the test, there were 50 questions. exaggerate. The Interpretation of Literary Terms seems to be tested every year, and usually there are 5 tests, such as imagery, transcendentalism, etc., which are relatively common focuses. In terms of basic English, the first questions in these two years are multiple-choice questions, usually with five options, mainly to test your usual accumulation. Then there is translation from Chinese to English, and English to Chinese, and the subject matter is usually prose. When I was preparing to take the entrance examination to study abroad, I spent a lot of time reading two modern prose translations by Zhang Peiji. I personally felt that I benefited a lot. Some of the expressions in them can be used in translation and writing. So these two books are highly recommended. This year’s essay topic is about Obama and racial discrimination, so it’s relatively easy to write. I personally feel pretty good after taking the Basic English exam, but my results are not ideal.

My second foreign language test was French. The French test paper of Fudan Second Foreign Language School is relatively easy, while the German and Japanese test papers are difficult. The French exams are all relatively basic, with multiple choice questions, one French translation, one translation, and this year there is also a reading comprehension section, with some words I don’t know. The reference book I read is "Public French" compiled by Shanghai Foreign Language School. Personally, I think the grammar points in these two books are very clear.

There is also a book called "Essentials for French Postgraduate Entrance Examination". Back then, everyone in our class who took the French exam had a copy. It was quite good, with many questions and explanations. I felt that although the questions in Fudan's second foreign language test paper were simple, it was not easy to get a high score. At that time, after I finished the test, I thought I must have scored above 90, but the result was only 83. Maybe some questions made it easier for people to make mistakes.

There were 13 people who took the re-examination at Fudan this year, and their admission score was 351. In the end, 3 people failed. 1 in Literature and 2 in Linguistics. It is a ranking of all directions put together. Because the retest accounts for 50%, it is still very critical. I was the first one to go in, and I was very nervous. There were four teachers below me. First, I selected an article, read it, and then asked you a few questions about this article. The next questions are very broad and casual, including where you are from, who are the authors you are interested in and which works you have read. Each of us met for about 10 minutes. Personally I think this is too subjective.

We met on Wednesday and the results will be out next Monday.

To sum up, Fudan’s information is not very public. We don’t know the rankings, real test papers, etc., so people feel that they are always a little confused when taking the exam to this school.

About the re-examination:

The re-examination at Fudan University is very fair. This is my personal experience as a candidate at an external school. I think the purpose of the re-examination is to let you know that you still have many shortcomings, so you must work harder and do research humbly in the future. The re-examination is mainly a professional oral examination, and the oral examination of the Second Foreign Language School is used as a reference and the total score is not recorded. I am in the British and American literature group. There are 5 teachers sitting below. Please don’t introduce yourself. From the beginning, you will be bombarded with professional questions one after another by the teachers. Basically, the teachers will ask you random questions based on your ideas, so don’t pretend to understand. Don’t pretend to understand. nonsense. A lot of questions were asked that made me frustrated. I felt that I still had a lot of gaps, and I would like to expand my knowledge even more in the future. One of the examiners came up and asked me which original works I had read. I mentioned a few, including Tess and Lord of the Flies. Then an examiner was interested in which literary theory. I said Ecofeminism, and she asked me to briefly talk about this theory. Then I was asked which book I had read that I could use it to interpret, and I said it was in Tess. She asked me to find an example from the original text to support my opinion. Personally, I think the question was quite detailed and in-depth.
