How does the Tathagata become a Buddha?

In everyone's impression, there are four "buddhas" in The Journey to the West, namely "past buddhas"-ancient buddhas burning lamps; "Tathagata is now"-Tathagata; "Future Buddha"-Maitreya Buddha; And ling's biography of Buddha. What makes people a little confused is the "present Buddha"-Tathagata. Is this "Tathagata" the familiar Sakyamuni?

First of all, say the name "Tathagata". In fact, this is a very irregular Buddhist term. Why do you say that? In Buddhism, "Buddha" is the abbreviation of Buddha, who consciously feels perfect or supreme and practices until all merits and demerits are satisfactory. "Ru", called truth in Buddhist scriptures, is absolute truth; "Tathagata" means that the Buddha is a saint who came to the world with absolute truth and said that he would benefit all beings. The word "Tathagata" itself is one of the ten moral titles of the Buddha. "Tathagata" means "Buddha", and "Tathagata" and "Buddha" actually mean the same thing.

In other words, for saints, "Buddha" is a title and "Tathagata" is also a title. Together, it is a kind of reuse. It is equivalent to addressing a person as "ladies and girls" or "gentlemen and gentlemen". For example, we say "Sakyamuni Buddha" or "Sakyamuni Buddha", but it is wrong to call it "Sakyamuni Buddha". Because Tathagata and Buddha are the general names of all buddhas, they don't mean a certain Buddha.

Since there is something wrong with this title, why did The Journey to the West say that? Is Mr. Wu really ignorant of the basic knowledge of Buddhism to this extent? Indeed, we are deeply impressed by the name "Tathagata" or "Tathagata" and think that he should be the biggest head in the western world. However, in fact, our impression is caused by film and television works, which are not written in the original.

Having said that, we have to mention a famous clip in the middle of The Journey to the West, the 86th TV series. The Jade Emperor drilled under the table of Lingxiao Hall, looked at the heavenly soldiers who were defeated by Wukong and shouted: Ask the Tathagata Buddha! But this is a change in the TV series, and this paragraph in the original is not written like this.

Back to the seventh time, "the Monkey King escaped from the Five Elements Mountain of the Great Sage in the Eight Diagrams Furnace", Wukong went out of the old gentleman furnace and made a scene in Heaven:

At that time, the gods gathered the Great Sage in one place, but they couldn't get close to it, yelling and fighting, which alerted the Jade Emperor early. Then he sent a message to you ling and yi shengzhen, asking them to go to the west to ask the Buddha to surrender.

In the book, the supreme leader of the western world is called "Buddha Lao". When the two saints arrived at Lingshan, they finished the old reason to please the Buddha and said:

"... something urgent, the jade emperor invited the Tathagata to save. "

The "Tathagata" mentioned here is neither "Tathagata" nor "Tathagata", and there is no place in the whole book that calls the present Buddha in the western paradise like this. The most common sayings are: Tathagata, Buddha, Buddha Lao, Buddha Grandpa and so on. A few people also appeared "I am a Tathagata". Back to the twelfth time, "Xuanzang built a meeting in good faith and turned Guanyin into a golden cicada", Emperor Taizong asked the Bodhisattva where the Mahayana Buddhist monk was:

The Bodhisattva said, "I became a Buddha here in the Leiyin Temple of Tianzhu Kingdom in the Great Western Heaven, and I can solve all grievances and eliminate innocent disasters."
