Fish in the deep sea swim in groups. Is it good for them?

Fish traveling in groups can not only get lost, but also have food to eat and avoid predators, which has many benefits.

Take sardines in the ocean as an example. When sardines migrate in groups, such a huge school of fish can stretch for miles, and people can't help thinking, this is not a big bite, how to eat it? If you hold this idea in the ocean, you will probably only starve to death. Faced with such a large group of fish, a shark, a dolphin, or several sharks and dolphins are helpless.

These schools of fish are not just waiting for you to open your mouth. They are very agile and have a nearly perfect cooperation with each other. When attacked, the fish will act as a whole and cover each other. Every fish will keep the same movements as the surrounding fish as soon as possible, which is very gorgeous from a distance.

Doesn't mean hiding in a school of fish won't get eaten. This is not just a question of probability. If it is only probability and there is no resistance, predators can eat as much as they want, so the probability of being eaten has nothing to do with whether they are in groups or not.

In other words, it's not simple. If you enter the same group, as long as you stay together, the probability of being hunted will be diluted. There is no difference between ordinary gathering and separation. The probability of being eaten when gathering is low, and the probability of encountering predators when dispersing is equally low. There is also a condition, in the deep sea, foraging in groups can make you able to withstand high water pressure.

In short, it is easier for fish to feed in groups than to feed alone, and it is the weak who keep warm.
