Significance of cemetery landscape design
The cemetery is to provide a peaceful home for the dead soul. When the life of the deceased comes to the end of the life journey, you can stop here and get peace and relief. This is also the place where the living and the old friends meet, and the feelings that the deceased relatives can't give up will be revealed here. Therefore, the landscape design of modern cemetery should be a place surrounded by green trees, with beautiful scenery and beautiful environment, which is a garden green space for the public to commemorate and rest.
This aspect has to be compared with foreign countries. The landscape design of ecological cemetery in western countries has developed quite well, which is worth learning from in China.
Landscape Design of Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, USA
20 13ASLA Professional Award for Excellence. Designed by halvorsen Design Partners.
Lakewood Cemetery was built in 187 1, which is a typical American "lawn planning" cemetery. Here, the vast lawn is dotted with exquisite monuments, surrounded by trees and quiet lakes. This style was pioneered by the Spring Forest Cemetery in Cincinnati in the 1950s in 19. Lakewood Cemetery is the purest existing example of this classic cemetery type.
Recognizing the value and importance of this landscape, the trustee of Lakewood Cemetery commissioned a team led by landscape architects to produce a historical landscape report and a comprehensive landscape master plan in 2002. Their purpose is to clarify the most important features of this cemetery and provide guidance for the future management and development of the cemetery. A problem faced by historical cemeteries all over the country is how to bring sustainable income without damaging the landscape value that China people love.
Through close communication and cooperation with clients, landscape designers make suggestions on the selection process of architects and participate as members of the design team, from preliminary design to project completion. The result of this process is a far-reaching overall architectural and landscape design scheme, which completely changes a deteriorating and "sinking" space, thus creating a poetic modern landscape and providing comfort and beauty for people in a meaningful environment. A new cemetery and reception center are integrated into the existing space slope. Along the street, most of the buildings gradually faded out of people's sight. Among the well-preserved oak samples, only 5,500 square feet of granite pavilions came into view.
Lin Ying Vietnam War Monument
1980 Winter, Yale University. A female sophomore majoring in architecture conceived a 600-word memorial to the Vietnam Veterans in Washington in order to complete the discussion of an undergraduate course, but in fact the project did not exist at that time.
Subsequently, the American government began to compete for this monument nationwide. A strange coincidence is that she sent her own 600-word description and some sketches.
This monument is so unique. Two smooth black granites cut the ground like a scar on the earth. This monument is engraved with men and women who gave their lives for the Vietnam War in chronological order. At the highest point of two granites, 1959 and 1973 (the year when Vietnam War started and ended) "met", forming the time circle of this war.
Borrowing scenery is a very creative landscaping method in China classical gardens. In Lin Ying's design, one end of the monument faces the Lincoln Memorial and the other end is the Washington Monument (obelisk). The low and simple Vietnam War Monument and the towering and isolated Washington Monument are inevitably related in time and space.
Construction site 1982
This design is so shocking that it lacks many traditional elements of war monuments, such as statues of patriots and heroes, flagpoles and decorative sculptures. The Asian identity of designers is also a sensitive issue. At the unveiling ceremony of the monument of 1982, people didn't even mention her name. Finally, forced by public pressure, she decided to build her own design and the second one in Washington, D.C., but after the completion, the second one was just a statue of three Vietnamese soldiers, and no one cared.
But this monument is the spiritual home of many veterans. A retired soldier said: "This is a quiet place where I can quietly express my condolences to my friends. This is what I hope to do. "
Princess Diana Memorial Hot Springs in Hydewood, London
The open landscape environment of Sakura Cemetery has an open landscape that belongs to everyone. While remembering, we can climb high and look far, let the living calm down, see the natural purity of life and understand the essential meaning of life with the change of natural seasons.
Princess Diana Memorial Spring, designed by Gustafson Porter, was built on the 7th anniversary of Princess Diana's death in England, and it has also become the most popular tourist attraction in London.
Its design concept is based on princess Diana's hobbies and deeds before her death, and with the concept of "reaching out-letting in", a light-colored landscape closed-loop spring is designed to conform to the slope of the site and settle in the Woods. The whole landscape waterway has experienced a variety of States, such as falling into the water, small waterfalls, whirlpools and stillness, which reflects the ups and downs of Princess Diana's life.
This oval canal is 2 10 meter long and is made of 545 huge granite, which is elegant and turbulent. Water gushes from the highest point at the southern end of the canal, and then divides into two streams, which flow in different directions and are supplemented by water in the middle. The water on the east side of the canal flows over the uneven rock surface at the bottom of the pool and jumps; The water in the west of the fountain is quiet and steady, and the two streams finally meet at the slightly wider water surface in the lower part of the canal. Different water flow patterns, different water flow speeds and different underwater sounds are exactly the diverse personalities of Princess Diana.
Most springs are covered with a water film, and the deepest part is only 1 foot (about 30cm). The surface of the stone is treated with anti-skid treatment in order to hope that tourists can enter the fountain, especially children can play in the canal. The fountain is surrounded by open grass to accommodate as many tourists as possible.
Every stone in the canal has a different shape and size. The stone was cut by computer technology. White channel stone strips meander on the undulating green grass of the earth art, full of vitality and sculpture.
USA 9/ 1 1 Memorial Square
In 9/ 1 1 memorial square, the designer used the concept of "missing reflection", which made people feel the feeling of "loss" strongly. The two sunken spaces symbolize the reflections left by the two buildings, and can also be understood as the marks that once existed in the two buildings.
On the original site of the Twin Towers, huge waterfalls, surrounded by trees, surging water and lush forest squares were set up to commemorate the prosperity of the World Trade Center in New York and the memory of the dead.
Peter Cook Landscape Design Office has built an ecological and multi-structure memorial site with simple green design: there are subway stations, parking lots and equipment rooms under the green roof.
Rows of oak trees in the square reflect the changes of seasons.
Pool Details and Tree Array Pavements
Memorial Square is a huge green ecological roof square, which makes full use of rainwater to irrigate vegetation.
At night, the twin towers of the World Trade Center were hit by lasers.
