From "The world is not worth it" to "The meaning of life", I hope children can understand this book written by Li Dan
In the sixth season of "Qi Pa Shuo", Li Dan was screened.
First of all, the topic of "Qi Pa Shuo": "Do art museums save paintings or cats?" Li Dan used his "absurd humor" to successfully dispel Huang Zhizhong's words of "listening to the distant world". Cry" and proposed that "Although we ordinary people are selfish, we promote the progress of society" and received full applause.
Then in the next issue on the topic "I don't like the job of 996, should I say 886?" As a boss, he mentioned a book called "Living the Meaning of Life". The original words are as follows:
A person who keeps saying "the world is not worth it" but mentions "the meaning of life" seems very contradictory and absurd, but it is very true.
The psychologist Li Dan mentioned is called Frankl. He was a Jew who advocated logotherapy and existential therapy, and founded the "Third School of Psychological Therapy" in Vienna.
Frankl is an outstanding person. He does not follow what others say. He has made unique achievements in psychology. The book "Living the Meaning of Life" he wrote is a best-seller all over the world.
And I think the most impressive thing about him is that he was imprisoned in Auschwitz concentration camp and was told that he would die soon due to his weak body, but he lived to be a full 92 years old.
What supported his survival was what Li Dan called "the meaning of life."
What is Auschwitz?
Auschwitz is a place name, located in Poland. After Nazi Germany occupied Poland, it built a concentration camp in this small town to detain prisoners, especially Jews, and conduct human experiments here. Auschwitz concentration camp is known as the "factory of death". Here, Nazi Germany massacred a large number of Jews, and the entire concentration camp was filled with the smell of death.
In that "death factory", people give up their lives every day, and the way of giving up can be very simple, just touching the electrified barbed wire.
When Frankl was first taken to Auschwitz, he heard others say: Only the strong can survive here. The person who said this also looked at Frankl specifically and asserted: He will not survive because he is weak and will be selected by the prison boss to be thrown into the gas chamber next time.
However, Frankl survived and became a miracle in the concentration camp. This is of course due to his luck. He escaped the clutches of death several times by mistake; it is also due to his identity. He is a doctor and is a "scarce resource" in the concentration camp, and sometimes he will be given special care; more importantly, he is a doctor. In order to improve his emotional intelligence, he only answered what others asked him and did not say unnecessary words. Sometimes he would applaud to please the "powerful people" in the concentration camp. But more importantly, the "meaning of life" kept him going.
When no one in the concentration camp remembered Frankl as Frankl, and people only knew his code name was 119104, he remembered his name and his mission in life.
Because he knew who he was and the meaning of his life, he survived.
Just like in Hayao Miyazaki's cartoon "Spirited Away", only when Chihiro finds her own name and the value of her existence can she get out of trouble.
We all know that Li Dan's mantra is "The world is not worth it." "Qi Pa Shuo" made his words popular across the country.
But if you really think that he believes in this sentence, you are totally wrong.
Let’s talk about Frankl’s experience.
Cigarettes in concentration camps were mentioned in "Living the Meaning of Life". Frankl found that if a person was found smoking cigarettes there, it meant that the person would die soon.
Because cigarettes are a scarce commodity, they can help people in concentration camps obtain many things. When a person starts to enjoy life in time and does not use this scarce product to improve his life, it means that he has given up hope, that is, he has given up on living.
Sometimes, death is not terrible, but the most courageous thing is to live. But no matter what Frankl encountered, he gritted his teeth and persisted in living. He often thought about the love between himself and his wife, and he would also seek strength from nature alone, because he hoped that his manuscript could see the light of day again.
He once said this to others:
What Frankl believed in was not "the world is not worth it", but his own "meaning of living". Even when there was a measles epidemic in prison, he was still reimagining his manuscripts and recording key words on scraps of paper to prevent himself from comatose.
In fact, similar to Frankl, Li Dan is not as cynical as we imagine.
We all know: "Three minutes on stage, ten years of hard work off stage." Li Dan said that he was very afraid of going on stage to debate, but this was the first time he appeared on stage to debate whether to save paintings or cats. Every sentence had the expected effect, and it can be called a classic in "Qi Pa Shuo".
At that time, Huang Zhizhong came up with a new concept, which shocked the whole audience. Li Dan turned the tide. He successfully responded to Huang Zhizhong's "Distant Cry", explaining that there is no need to play with advanced concepts; he also just right to please the audience, every joke was hilarious and memorable; he even took care of the on-site "Old weirdo" mentioned in passing the relationship between Xiao Xiao and his mother. All his jokes may seem cynical on the surface, but they all embody the word "serious".
Regarding the "996" debate, he did not discuss it from a condescending perspective as a boss, but was very down-to-earth. Whether it is the argument that "no work is not tiring", or we need to consider the people we love deeply, or whether work can fulfill the meaning of our lives. Putting aside our stereotypes about the boss's mandatory overtime work, it can be said that his IQ and EQ are online in every word he says.
Let’s take a look at Li Dan’s current net worth. Born in 1989, the "Xiaoguo Culture" he founded has been valued at 1.2 billion, which means that his own worth is nearly 100 million.
Although starting a business is not a big deal, companies fail every day; it is not a big deal that corporate valuations are high, and there are still unicorn veterinary pharmaceutical companies in the United States that are listed on fake listings. But I think, combined with the effect of his program, Li Dan is outstanding.
As for why Li Dan always claims that "the world is not worth it". I think he catered to the needs of his audience.
Life is too hard and we are a little depressed.
But we can look for emotional outlets for "sadness", but we cannot really forget the "meaning of life."
However, today, many young people seem to only remember mourning, but forget the struggle; they only remember to enjoy themselves, but forget the meaning of life.
On Double 11, some people, in pursuit of "exquisite poverty", collected 26 packages at home in one day, swiped their credit cards and started borrowing online loans, pushing the whole family into the abyss of poverty.
Some college students are psychologically fragile and cannot stand setbacks. In recent years, news of student suicide has frequently appeared in the newspapers.
I think Li Dan is right: no one smiles all the time, and life is indeed hard. But I hope my children will remember these three sentences in "Living the Meaning of Life":
The first sentence: Humor is a weapon for the soul to preserve itself.
In the Naschwitz concentration camp, Frankl lived an inhuman life. He had been doing manual labor, suffered from severe lack of sleep, endured the torture of diseases, and was under great mental pressure. However, "joy in suffering" supported him to come through.
Frankl once made an agreement with a prison inmate to make up a funny joke for each other every day, telling the story of their release. These stories supported Frankl to become one of the 1/28 who survived the concentration camp.
The second sentence: Those who know why they live can survive.
When we were studying, we probably all memorized this passage: When heaven is about to entrust a great responsibility to a person, he must first suffer his mind, starve his body, deplete his body, and mess up his actions. Therefore, if you use your mind and forbearance, you can gain what you can't do.
If the suffering in ancient Chinese literature points to a great cause, then the meaning mentioned by Frankl is somewhat mysterious.
He said:
Frankl voluntarily went to the Naschwitz concentration camp for his family, but later his parents and his pregnant wife died in the concentration camp. He was able to survive naturally because of his pursuit of career, such as rewriting the lost manuscript; his reminiscence of relatives, such as his beloved wife; and his yearning for life. After walking out of the concentration camp, he was still alive in his 60s. He learned to fly a plane, and even climbed the Alps when he was over 80 years old.
Looking at the big picture, the career that each of us pursues and the people we love can fulfill the meaning of our lives; looking at the small picture, every small blessing we encounter in life can also fulfill the meaning of our lives. It can bring us down-to-earth happiness. Even if life is full of suffering, the suffering may not be meaningless, because it has made me who I am now.
The third sentence: Even under terrible psychological and physiological conditions, people can maintain a certain degree of spiritual freedom and independence of consciousness.
In Western culture, the most emphasis is on free will. We cannot change our environment, but we can change our attitudes and views on things.
I prefer to use "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" to interpret Frankl's attitude towards difficulties: In life, there are three types of situations, things we can change directly, and things we can change indirectly. things that we cannot change.
We need to change the things we can change by expanding our circle of influence. As for what we cannot change, it is better to accept and actively respond to it. Just like Frankl did, even in the extremely harsh living conditions of the concentration camps, he was still able to find beauty in natural art, retain a sense of humor, and maintain a love of life.
In the end, I have to say that Li Dan dug a big hole for us, or Frankl dug a hole for us, a hole about meaning:
Children, hurry up Stop being "mourning". If you haven't even found the meaning, why should you be mourning?
