Morality in war?

War is an organized violence, but it is not without any morality, but these morality are different from personal standards.

War morality comes from some fighting principles of eastern chivalrous men, warriors and western knights in feudal times.

For example, people who lay down their weapons will not be killed, ordinary people will not be killed, and women and children will not be harmed. Aside from the purpose of the war itself, there is no need to artificially increase the pain of the enemy (that is, as long as you win, you will no longer physically torture your opponent).

These basic principles have gradually continued. At present, the regular armies of all countries basically recognize that there are many provisions in international law, such as not abusing prisoners, not engaging in genocide, not using some large-scale and excessively cruel weapons and ammunition, and not killing civilians.

The Nazis were sent to war courts in large numbers after the war, not because of how many people they killed on the battlefield, but because they killed a large number of unarmed civilians and prisoners of war. This is the most extreme crime in the morality of war: people have no weapons, do not wear military uniforms, and do not resist. You also killed a lot, which is absolutely against the morality of war. Even in the German regular army, many people are ashamed of Nazi behavior.

Similarly, the Japanese massacre in Nanjing, if only from the number of people killed, I am afraid it is much less than those killed on the battlefield, but the Japanese killed civilians and prisoners of war, and it was extremely cruel, which caused people's extreme disgust.

Today, some basic war ethics have become more popular, and even the victorious countries will be unanimously condemned by the international community if they do the above things. Of course, at present, because the United Nations has no enforcement power, there is no better way to restrain some powerful countries from violating morality in war than condemnation.

In fact, there are also such problems in human morality. Sometimes a person does immoral things, and national laws can't control him. Everyone can only condemn him in public opinion.

In any case, a little moral restraint is better than no moral restraint. Moral indoctrination works slowly, but it is more fundamental. If many soldiers realize that killing civilians is immoral, the killing of civilians on the battlefield will be greatly reduced.

Therefore, my opinion is:

1, war has moral constraints.

2. This constraint is very small.

3, don't give up, and strive to let more people know the morality of war.
