Shaanxi is building a commercial controlled nuclear fusion reactor. How to treat this "commercial integration"?

One view is that even if the generated power exceeds the ignition power, it is useless and a waste of money until there is no economic way to solve the problems of transmutation, tritium generation, storage and leakage prevention caused by the impact of fast neutrons produced by fusion on the shell. This kind of thing depends first on whether there is a major breakthrough in basic theory. When it really happens, the media will certainly report it to the whole world, but if it is not blown to commercial use, it can basically be said that it is robbing money.

There are insurmountable technical difficulties at this stage of nuclear fusion. If we invest more resources in this field, other credible projects will reduce resources. There is no way for human beings to establish an environment comparable to the solar nucleus, and there is no way to solve the neutron problem caused by deuterium-tritium reaction. According to the present theory, this problem will never be solved.

Nuclear fusion is a real physical phenomenon, and controlled fusion is a feasible research goal, which is different from the so-called hydrogen bomb. In fact, uncontrolled nuclear fusion has been realized, that is, through hydrogen bombs. However, controlled nuclear fusion is much more difficult, and after decades of efforts by scientists all over the world, it is still so far away that people jokingly call it "controlled nuclear fusion will take fifty years forever." But this joke is changing, because according to the current industry timetable, 50 years is a real number, not an imaginary number. In the next 50 years, or around 2070, we will indeed have commercial fusion energy.

We should understand how private companies enter the field of nuclear fusion. In principle, anyone who invests in high technology such as nuclear fusion should be welcomed. Anyway, it is much better than speculating on useless things or even low-level things. Moreover, scientists' extra business trips will also increase their wages, which will benefit the whole society. Understandably, relevant companies will talk more about the benefits of publicity if they want to raise funds. But the public needs to have more scientific knowledge, understand the general environment of the industry, know what these companies can and can't do, and don't be too optimistic about the controlled merger, think it is just around the corner, or fall into the other extreme and think it is a scam. Only by conducting serious research with a cool head can we promote the early realization of this great goal of controlled nuclear fusion.
