Creation background

The archetypal figure in the background story of Mohe ballroom is an old man named Zhang Dequan, whose wife was killed in the "May 6th" forest fire accident in 1987 Daxinganling. After more than 30 years, the old man has never remarried and has no children. He often went to Mohe ballroom to dance alone in memory of his wife who loved dancing before her death.

Liu Shuang met the old man by chance while traveling in Mohe. In just five minutes of conversation, he learned about the time, place, people and events. With the consent of the old man, he wrote the song Mohe Ballroom.
