How to eliminate troubles

People in the world are worried about many things. For example, we are physically worried about old age, illness and death, and psychologically worried about greed and ignorance. Our troubles are really like the depth of the sea and the dense forest, all of which are caused by troubles.

Endless troubles, when you think about it, are nothing more than a word "I". Because of my obsession, my love, my opinion and so on, we have countless troubles. Therefore, if we want to learn Tao, we must first learn how to overcome these troubles. The main source of all troubles is greed and ignorance. The so-called "catch the thief first, get the king first". To get rid of troubles, we must first emphasize how to get rid of these three poisons.

Wang Yangming once said: "It is easy to catch a thief in the mountains, but difficult to catch a thief in the heart." Bandits and pirates in the mountains are easy to catch, but the three stubborn diseases of greed and stupidity in our hearts are not easy to get rid of. There are two sentences in the Buddhist scriptures: "Practice diligently and quit wisdom to stop greed and ignorance." Because we have a habit in life, we often refuse to do things that are beneficial to others, but if we use the power of abstinence, we will think that we would rather sacrifice our hobbies than infringe on others. So it can be seen that abstinence can cure greed. For example, our inner needs, our doubts and resentment about real life, we must use "fixed" efforts to keep our mentality impartial and pure, so as to stay away from troubles. When it comes to idiots, we should treat them with "wisdom". Buddhist wisdom is not secular knowledge, because knowledge is not all good. The inner Prajna wisdom can't be revealed, and it doesn't conform to Buddhism. Everything is done only by feeling and selfish common sense. This is called delusion. The wisdom of Buddhism comes from Wen Hughes, which is a mean method to observe reality. Only in this way can we eliminate ignorance and other serious diseases.

Once, I was in the Sunshine Park in Japan, and I saw three monkeys carved on the carved beam, which were lifelike. A monkey covers his eyes, a monkey pulls his ears, and a monkey beats his mouth; I suddenly realized that these three monkeys symbolize some truth. What truth?

People's senses-eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind-are constantly climbing outward every day, making false distinctions to the outside world, thus causing many troubles. If we can go back to our hearts and not let it go with the situation, we won't see what we shouldn't see, listen to what we shouldn't hear and say what we shouldn't say. This is equivalent to what Confucius said: "see no evil, don't listen if you are indecent, don't speak if you are indecent, don't move if you are indecent, see no evil." We can get rid of the troubles covered by greed and ignorance. In this way, there will be no problems in behavior, and the troubles will naturally decrease gradually.

My grandmother is a devout Buddhist and has been fasting and chanting Buddha since she was seventeen. I became a monk because of her influence. She was very nice and had three sons, but all the children born to my uncle died at the age of three or four in my memory. But my grandmother has never been sad about these things. Does she have no feelings? Don't you love your grandson? Of course not! This is because she studied Buddhism and knew that to live is to die, and there is a reward for her career. She can't help feeling sad. The birth of a grandson is just a cycle of karma; His death is now retribution and his emotional debt. People's life expectancy is inherently different. The child will leave us even if he doesn't leave now. If a child has good causes and his own blessings, why bother about him? Therefore, people who study Buddhism have different views on life and death from ordinary people, and crying sadly is not good for the dead.
