Black sheep in translation

It would be a joke if it were literally translated into "black sheep". However, the appearance of this phrase does have something to do with sheep.

According to Webster's dictionary, this phrase means: a recent black-haired individual in a group of normal white-haired sheep, which means in Chinese that any group of white sheep has black sheep mixed. But why are people so interested in the black sheep that there is such a saying?

In western countries, people think that the hair of black sheep is not as precious as that of white sheep. At the same time, the black sheep are mixed among the white sheep, and the white sheep are also easily afraid. There is another reason. People think that black represents evil, not only in western countries, but also in China. For example, people often describe purity as "crystal white" and "a piece of ice in a jade pot". And use the expression "black heart" as a metaphor for sin.

Now, people use this phrase to express: members of a group who stand in line with other members and form an unfavorable contrast, which is usually associated with the meaning of "black sheep, scum" in Chinese.
