I am a girl. I have been demoted and am one year older than my classmates. I am afraid that people will talk about my age and that they will laugh at me.

How should I say this? Actually, my experience is the same as yours. I went to kindergarten for an extra year. I have always been one year older than my roommates. Before college, I even hid it from them and became the "little sister" for more than ten years ( Because my birthday was late, they thought I was the same year as everyone else).

However, after college, when they saw my ID card and knew that I was the oldest in the class, they all laughed at me. At first, I was not used to it. Every time they talked about being old, I hate it when they involve me in a problem, and then they pretend not to care or not hear.

Now, I really don’t care anymore, no matter what they say about my age, sometimes I make fun of myself, saying that my old back hurts, my old legs hurt, and that they should respect their elders.
