Introduction to ignorant allusions

What is ignorance? Ignorance is a Buddhist term. In Hinayana Buddhism, ignorance is the beginning of twelve karma. Ignorant people walk, know the destiny, become famous, and become famous six times. Six times into the fate, touch the fate, be loved by the fate, love the fate, meet the fate, fate, life and death. Our thoughts and feelings are ignorant. Where does life come from? Where did death go? Who was I before my parents died? Is there really reincarnation after death? Is there me? I know nothing about it. All in ignorance. Ignorance is the big problem of everything. If you don't start from here, everything will be empty and useless, and you will know nothing about your initial heart, and it will be useless to learn Buddhism. This is because of local practices.

Secondly, our thoughts come and go, and our thoughts and emotions are uncontrollable. We can't be masters, but we are slaves of thoughts and emotions. Where do these delusions and worries come from? Is it idealism? Is it materialism? Is it physiology? Is it psychology? You'll never know. That's ignorance. If you don't know this because of the local Buddhism, just ask the Buddha for blessing. To tell the truth, this is the trouble of ignorance.

The Buddha said that ignorance is the only way to become a Buddha. Manjusri Bodhisattva is worried that we are not only ignorant, but also confused about what ignorance is. So, she raised this question on our behalf: Why is there no ignorance in the cloud? The following is Buddha's answer to ignorance. (Excerpted from the introduction of Jue Yuan Classic in South China)

A good man, all living beings don't know where it came from, and all kinds of things are upside down, just like charming the four directions, mistaking the four big ones for their own, and the shadow of six dusts for their own, just like seeing an empty Hua Er month.

What is ignorance? It's really hard to answer. We know that people who are good at saying things are good at using metaphors. People's thoughts and feelings can't be expressed in words, and the language in the world is limited. Therefore, people should talk face to face and see their expressions, gestures and actions to understand clearly.

In fact, the language with these expressions and actions can't be fully understood, otherwise, there won't be so many misunderstandings between people. The Tao of metaphysics is difficult to express in the written language of the world. Therefore, the archbishop is good at using metaphors. There are most metaphors and stories in Buddhist scriptures, and there are also many metaphors in the New Testament and the Old Testament of Christianity, as well as in the Talmud. Metaphor is the best way to express meaning, but we are influenced by metaphor and take it seriously, such as asking: where is the moon? I pointed my finger and the moon was there. As a result, I turned my finger on that month! This is a very poor thing. Now, Sakyamuni Buddha has to be explained by metaphor.

A good man, all beings come from nowhere, all kinds of upside down. Ignorance is inversion, which is put forward by Buddhist scriptures and has far-reaching significance. The Buddha said that all beings were born from nothing and reversed all beings. In fact, this sentence has already finished all Buddhism. I often tell a joke that people are upside down. Look! God created man upside down. Both eyes are in front and you can't see anything in the back, so you will be knocked down by a car when you walk. If one eye was in front and one eye was in the back, there wouldn't be so many car accidents. If the eyebrows are on your fingers, it is more convenient to get up in the morning and use them as toothbrushes. Turn your nose upside down and insert chopsticks into your nose after dinner; It is also convenient to take an umbrella when it rains. You don't have to take it with your hands, just stick it in your nose. If your mouth is on your head, you will not waste time if you eat on your head. The money in the pocket is too dirty to eat, so you can only count it over and over again and put it in the safe. People will die if they don't eat, but there is no one there. Do you think that all beings are upside down? What can gold and diamonds do? However, it is extremely precious and expensive. The result was a fatal disaster. Is it upside down? Say what is love, scold is love, reverse!

There is nothing in the world that is not reversed, all beings are reversed, and everything is reversed. If you don't reverse it, you will become a Buddha. What is Buddha? The founder of Zen Buddhism in China said that Buddha is an ordinary person who has nothing to do. Who can do that? This is totally much ado about nothing. Everything is upside down.

Shi Sheng, a Zen master in China, was born in the Southern and Northern Dynasties and is the embodiment of Maitreya Bodhisattva. He met with the founder of Dharma. He wrote an upside-down song:

"Hoes are empty-handed, riding buffalo on foot, people cross the bridge, and the bridge does not flow."

How many people have understood this song since ancient times? If you can understand, you will understand. Some people who study Taoism say this is tantric! Empty-handed hoe, meditation, full of yang, hands quickly formed a handprint. Riding a buffalo on foot, oh! Ren and Du are connected by two veins. People cross the bridge, the water doesn't flow, the saliva is sweet, so swallow it quickly. This is really a mess, upside down. My Zen teacher said: This song will never be understood. I said sir (we are used to calling teachers sir), would you please provide us with some information? "good!" He said: "In the middle of the night, thieves bite dogs, pick up dogs and throw stones, and never say anything that reverses right and wrong. The sewer stepped on the foot. " Ha! More out of tune!

How can we not reverse it? Master Cang Xue, a great monk in Ming Dynasty, wrote a poem:

"Sitting quietly in Nantai and worrying about death all day long is not to rest your mind, but to have nothing to worry about."

This is not upside down! This is the only way to qualify for meditation.

All sentient beings are sentient beings and turned upside down. World Buddhism is the same as Buddhism. I often encourage monks to learn about the world Buddhism. When they understand, Buddhism will pass. There are two sentences in A Dream of Red Mansions: "Everything is sensible, and human feelings are articles." Jia Baoyu hated these two words all his life. This was written by Jia Baoyu's father himself and hung in the study to educate him. Later, Jia Baoyu understood these two sentences and became a monk. In fact, what is secular law? What is the law of birth? A dream of red mansions is pointed out to you, but most people can't understand it. We look at the world from an upside-down concept. Many people do things upside down, all the time and everywhere. It was a simple thing and a good thing, but later, we quarreled, and everyone was unhappy, because the world was not clear and the people were not sophisticated enough to turn things upside down.

Besides, people don't just reverse the laws of the world. Strictly speaking, is meditation the other way around? This is a big problem, because the Buddha does not seek in his heart, nor in his sitting, let alone in his worship. So, where does the Buddha ask for it? If this question is unclear and the goal is in a daze, wouldn't you put the cart before the horse when you say that you are studying Buddhism?

Next, the Buddha will explain what inversion is, just like the fascinating four directions. Sakyamuni Buddha made a metaphor here, just like when we came to a place, we suddenly lost our way and were confused for a while, unable to tell the difference between east, west, north and south. The earth is round, and it has no direction. East, west, north and south are determined by people according to the sun and the earth's magnetic field. So, who made you lose your way? No master, no ghost, no god, no god, but you are lost.

How to change places? How did you get lost? To learn Buddhism, we must understand this truth. The first step in learning Buddhism is to know clearly what is not reversed and what is right. However, the Buddha did not speak. He said that we made a mistake and turned it upside down. We regard the body as me, and the body is a combination of the four, earth, fire and wind. Solid substances are big, such as stones, land and mountains, which are the bones and muscles in the human body. The water is big, the rain, ice and snow on the earth, and the blood, pus, urine and sweat on the human body are all big. Fire, solar energy from the outside and body temperature in the human body all belong to fire. The wind is strong, and the airflow in nature and the breathing in the human body are called strong wind. Our bodies are made up of these four machines. However, these are not me, but I belong to them. I just have the right to use them for decades, and I have to return them to the earth when I leave. The land where we live is too good for us. Give us food, shelter and use. What can we give it in return? Spitting, defecating, taking out garbage, air pollution, water pollution and dirt are all given to it. If you die, give it back. It is not angry either. It took everything. Therefore, Taoism teaches us to follow the example of heaven and earth and only give it away, not to recycle it. The Buddha said that all living beings regard this as me, which is upside down, so,

Many people learn to meditate on their bodies, and the pulse leads here! It went there again! Finally, they all go to the funeral home! The four bodies are fake! Are you serious? Am I upside down?

What are you talking about? Mistaking the shadow of six dust for your own heart. What is six dusts? Color, the light outside, what the eyes can see. Sound, the sound that the ear can hear. Sweet, the smell that the nose can smell. Taste, the taste that the tongue can taste. Touch, the feeling that the body can feel. Method, think that consciousness is important. Four synthetic six bodies have six functions: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. Six external dust and six physical phenomena interact with the six roots of the body to produce an image, which is called the shadow of six dust. For example, photos, movies and TV are all shadows and virtual images, but these shadows are very powerful! Will arouse our emotions. Seeing their pain, we also suffer; We are glad to meet them. Look! How upside down we are! Knowing that it is false, it is still influenced by it.

Think about our thoughts, all upside down in the shadow of six dusts. For example, the recently popular movie "The Biography of Gandhi" came home after watching it, still lamenting Gandhi's greatness. In fact, Gandhi has been dead for a long time, and Gandhi in the movie is fake. However, this film is so touching that people are moved to tears on the spot. Why? Just because I was deceived by the shadow of Liu Chen. Everything in life is a shadow of dust. What happened yesterday can you stay? Can you put it in front of you again? No, it's all over. Are the shadows of fate. However, when we often think of yesterday, we will be extremely angry and sad. All sentient beings play in the shadow of six dusts and regard the shadow of six dusts as their own hearts.

Well, now Sakyamuni Buddha denies all this and teaches us that the four syntheses are not really me, and neither are Six Shadows. Further study, if this body and mind is not me, then what is the real me? This is a very serious problem.

Next, the Buddha used another metaphor. He said he could see empty China and February through his eyes. Our existing body and mind is not me, but it has not left me. It is a reflection of our real life, such as flowers in the sky. Where can there be flowers in the air? Rubbing your eyes, you will see a little star in the sky, or your hair is dizzy. For another example, when you meditate and see the light, you will see the Buddha and the Bodhisattva. Sorry, but you can't take it seriously. If you are serious, you are wrong. In February, have you seen the second moon? There is only one moon, isn't there? However, there are many moons, and the ancients have a poem:

"Thousands of rivers have water and thousands of rivers have moons"

Where there is water, there is the moon. Is the moon in the water a real moon? No, that's the reflection of the moon in the sky.

Here, everyone, see how beautiful the Buddhist scriptures are. The three classic characters, Jue Yuan Jing, Leng Yanjing and Vimalakīrti Jing, are really beautiful to the extreme. Through this beautiful text, we should understand that this body and mind is not the real self.

The first step in learning Buddhism is to get rid of ignorance, don't confuse ignorance, don't take this false body and mind seriously, and look at it firmly. Think about it! Ninety-five percent of our lives are busy with this body. It needs to sleep and lie in bed, and more than half of its life has passed. It will be hungry and eat three meals, but it will be busy, buying vegetables, washing vegetables, cooking, frying, eating, washing, eating is also very troublesome, and it will excrete. Get up in the morning and wash your face; Put on clothes when it's cold, and take off clothes when it's hot. In order to live, I have to work and suffer indignities. I have been busy all my life. The result still does not belong to me, and finally belongs to the incinerator of the funeral home. Look! How badly we were cheated by it! All beings are upside down! What's more, it's even busier if it's fame and fortune. What's the result of being busy all your life? What a pity!

Seek real life through these illusions, and don't be confused by these six shadows. In fact, when we meditate, we are also playing with our own six dust shadows, especially the Taoist tantra likes to talk about dreams. Come to me, teacher! I had a dream yesterday ... Why, alas! I heard that the first three are all big, obviously a dream, obviously false, but I told it again, and finally I said that this dream is true. Do you mean that all beings are upside down?

A good man is empty and unpretentious, but a sick man is stubborn. He was fascinated not only by this empty self, but also by Watson's reality, which led to the illusion of life and death, so his name is unknown.

Sakyamuni Buddha said to Manjusri Bodhisattva: In fact, there are no flowers in the void. The void is empty and there is nothing. Because the eyes are sick, it looks like flowers. For example, a schizophrenic sees a ghost, and there are indeed ghosts in his mind and eyes.

Speaking of mental illness, who is sick? Who's not sick? It's hard to say. Only two people are absolutely normal, one is Sakyamuni Buddha who has passed away, and the other is Maitreya Buddha who has not yet been born. Everyone is sick because they are upside down. I once went to a mental hospital to see those patients. I stayed for a long time and found something was wrong. They are all patients. You say they are abnormal, they think you are abnormal! Later, I said to two psychiatrists: Be careful! After a long time, you will get mental illness, and as expected, you will all get mental illness in a few years. Because all beings are upside down, who is right and who is wrong? Who is wrong? I don't know.

The patient is insisting, and persistence means taking the fake seriously. The eyes are sick, and it is crazy to see flowers in the void. Because I am used to it for a long time, I not only confuse the appearance of vanity, but also forget the appearance of real flowers, and take the fake as true.

This is illusory, rotating life and death, so the name is unknown. We live and die, and when we die, we will be reincarnated, so we live and die, and go back and forth, because we are reckless and because we take falsehood seriously. This kind of "false persistence" is what other classics call "karma".

I once told jokes to several priests. I said your Bible is very meaningful, but it's a pity that it's poorly translated. The vernacular Chinese was translated in the Ming Dynasty and has no literary value. Therefore, it cannot be promoted in China. The reason why Buddhism can take root and develop in China is that the translated Buddhist scriptures are beautiful and have high literary value, which has touched the intellectuals in China. Translation in the Bible is not only beautiful in words, but also problematic in reasoning. It's disgusting that you said I was born guilty. I was born innocent, my mother innocent, my father innocent, and my ancestors innocent. Why did God say I was guilty? It's useless However, there is nothing wrong with what God said, but you can't understand it and can't translate it properly according to the cultural background. People are not born guilty, but flawed, imperfect and imperfect. In other words, people are born with karma, good karma, evil karma and good karma. This karma is not a sin, but a force that guides you to run.

We are in a big upside down. What is right? What's the matter? I don't know, everything is in vain, influenced by karma and wrong ideas. Why is there trouble? Why is there pain? Because I am arrogant. Therefore, when China's Zen Buddhism talks about all Buddhism, there is only one sentence: "Put it down." However, people are so poor! I just can't let it go. After listening to Zen, sit there every day and put it down! Put the gun down. So there is another illusion-"put it down."

In the Tang Dynasty, Bai Juyi studied Zen and wrote a poem, which is equivalent to completing the beginning of Jue Yuan Jing.

"It is important to know that all stages are not the same, but if you don't have enough things in your life,

I forgot to say something for a while, but I was talking about a dream in a dream.

You can't have your cake and eat it, and Yang Yan can't find fish.

Perturbation means that Zen is moving, and that's it if you don't Zen. "

The Diamond Sutra says that people are like me. Everything is empty and everything is different. Ying is the name of Buddhism, and the realm of enlightenment is nirvana, also called inaction. Nirvana is the fruit of Mahayana realm, and Nirvana is the fruit of Mahayana realm. When you have an epiphany, you will get rid of everything, which is called "forgetting words for a while" Life is a dream, and what we do is a dream in a dream, a delusion and a falsehood. The Buddha told us that the self is empty. Since it is empty, do you still need a fruit seat? Still trying to find a way? Therefore, "you can have both fruits and flowers." Yang Yan is light and shadow. On the highway in summer, you can see water floating on the road ahead. This is Yan Yang. This is a false illusion of light and shadow. How can it be water "Zen moves when you are photographed", your legs are close together, and you try your best to suppress your thoughts, thinking that this is learning Buddhism, and this is static. In fact, this is very bad. Not seeking purity and emptiness, "thinking nothing", naturally this is right, "not meditating, feeling like this."

Only by understanding Bai Juyi's poems can we understand the chapters of Jue Yuan Jing. What the Buddha said to Manjusri Bodhisattva, all beings were born out of false persistence, and everyone took false as true.

Ignorant good people are not real. Just like a person in a dream, there is nothing in the dream. As for waking up, there is nothing. If all vanity is destroyed, it is doomed not to say words. Why? There is no place to live. All beings are born out of nothing and see life and death for nothing, so the name turns to life and death.

Next, the Buddha further explained what ignorance is. Ignorance is not true. For example, when we close our eyes and sit still, our eyes seem to think nothing. When we think, if there is anything, we seem to be thinking. This is ignorance. But if you look again, where is this thing? It has no body. It's fake. Therefore, this ignorant person is not a real body.

"Like people in dreams, there is no dream." The Buddha made another analogy here. For example, when a person is dreaming, the state in the dream is real, not nothing. I often tell people not to wake a person when he is dreaming. It is a sin and cruelty to wake him up. Look how sweet some people smile when they dream! How much he enjoyed it in his dream! How comfortable! Everyone has had this experience!

However, people are very poor, and the ancients have two poems:

"Family ties have existed since ancient times, and the source of good dreams is the easiest to wake up."

This is life. Good dreams are the easiest to wake up. When you wake up, you want to continue, but you can't So don't wake the dreamer, let him dream more. I sometimes wonder, is it compassion for the Buddha to wake up the dreamer? Or cruel? I think it's comfortable for all beings to make him dream! Why did you wake him up?

"Even if I wake up, I have no income." When I woke up from my dream, I realized that I was dreaming just now. Everything is fake, nothing. Attention! Now we are dreaming! When we fully realize it, we will find that dreaming with eyes open during the day is no different from dreaming with eyes closed at night. Dreaming at night is an illusion, and doing things during the day is also an illusion. But we ordinary people think it exists in our dreams, but when we wake up, we don't want to admit that it is false and want to continue our dreams; Knowing that you are dreaming now, you are still willing to indulge.

"If vanity dies, don't say words are doomed." For example, our eyes are sick and we see flowers in the void; The eye disease was cured and the flowers were gone. Where are these lights? Where did it disappear? No, you can't say that. It doesn't exist, it is illusory, it aims at emptiness, it doesn't exist in vanity, but it lives here with you. Why! Why? There is no place to live. The flowers in the sky are fake, because we look at the void with pathological eyes, and there is a shadow in the void, and the void is still void. There are no more flowers in the void, and of course there is nowhere to grow and die.

"All sentient beings are born out of nothing, and they see life and death for nothing, so the name turns to life and death." In fact, our real life is lifeless, born without life. What is life and death? For example, when I speak now, you are listening to the transcription and moving, showing a phenomenon. It disappeared after a while, and disappeared for a lifetime. What we see with our eyes, what we hear with our ears, and even what we think in our hearts are all methods of life and death. If we are influenced by these phenomena, we are ordinary people. If we can find an immortal, immortal, immobile and intangible existence in this birth and death, we can, as the Buddhist scriptures say, "endure without a license." You don't have to cut off life and death, you are not in life and death.

It can be seen that all phenomena in the universe are relative, with life and death, coming and going, good and evil, right and wrong, moving and static. This is the law of life and death, and the two sides of the phenomenon world are relative and unreliable. It is Buddhism and Taoism that can be born and destroyed, but not born and immortal. Therefore, meditation and chanting Buddha seek quietness, and quietness is also a method of life and death. It's been quiet for a long time, so I can't sit still. You should come down for a walk. Calm down for a long time, it's time to make a decision. You should think quietly, think quietly. Why do ordinary people meditate for peace? I am tired of moving for a long time, so I want to be quiet. However, it can really calm you down, but you can't. Some of my friends envy the purity of their monks and want to retire. I advised them not to. Why? Because many people have nothing to do and can't settle down once they retire. As a result, they retreated to the "Yin" country. So the first step in learning Buddhism is to enjoy loneliness first. Without this accomplishment, don't talk about learning Buddhism.

I thought there was no one, not even a ghost, when I closed the door at the top of Mount Emei. I'm a loner in the snow and ice, so-called:

"There are no birds in the mountains, no footprints in the thousands of roads, a boat, a bamboo cloak, and an old man fishing in the cold Jiang Xue."

This is the realm. Sometimes reading classics at night, an oil lamp, Yi Deng is like a bean, alone, that is pure! Then enjoy it! This is really a luxury, a great enjoyment of life. When you learn Buddhism, go back to see your wife and children, give them a hug, and then go away and meditate. Occasionally your wife and children are still around. If it is really thrown into a deserted place, it will frighten to death.

The above is about misreading life and death, and rotating life and death by the way. Let's keep watching.

If a good person comes from the land to practice circle awareness, he knows its emptiness, that is, there is no rotation, no physical and mental life and death, and there is no reason.

The Buddha told Manjusri Bodhisattva how to take the first step to become a Buddha. We are all qualified to become Buddhas, everyone is the same, including cockroaches and ants. The first step is how to repair the land. "Knowledge is empty, that is, there is no rotation." You know, everything is a flower in the void, and what we say, hear and do today is false. Life is like a play, we should know that we are singing a play now, and the parents who should play it should be like their parents, and everyone should applaud them. However, don't forget that you are a singer, and you have to take off your makeup and report to the funeral home after singing. All this is fake. However, most people lose their heads when singing opera, so they can't get off the stage when they go on stage. It's easier to get on stage than to get off stage. At the same time, we must clearly understand that "there is no body and mind that is alive or dead." Birth, old age, illness and death are all changes in phenomena. The true self that is neither born nor dead is not in this life and death. Only by finding this real life can we live and die. Note that our way of longevity, "if you don't do it, you will do it", is not made or cultivated. You said I knocked a lot of wooden fish, sat a lot and recited a lot of spells. Maybe I can become a Buddha? Ha! That's your illusion! Didn't Bodhisattva Guanzi also tell us in the Heart Sutra: "Immortality, impurity, increase and decrease"? You didn't fix him much, and you didn't fix him much. It's not artificial. Empty is empty. You didn't fix it.

You usually feel empty in meditation, yo! So comfortable! So quiet! I see emptiness! Don't deceive yourself, that's the feeling you created. Even, someone came to me and said, "Teacher, no!" Put the gun down. I said, "What's missing?" "That hole fell out!" Do you think it's funny that you didn't fix it? It's not empty unless you fix it. He doesn't need you to solve it. It's already empty. I often say, stop daydreaming. Why are there so many things? It's a delusion to empty you! Delusion is empty, you want to keep it, you don't need to empty it, the so-called:

"Autumn leaves at sixes and sevens, swept away. Just sit in a leisure place with a smile and let him fall to the ground. "

Understand this truth, you can start practicing. This is where you came from. I won't lie to you. I was wrong. Go to hell and go to the fourth basement of the earth treasure bodhisattva. The underground was originally eighteen stories, but now the times have improved and there are four more basements. (Laughter)
