But after all, he is too old to do a lot of manual work himself, so he mobilized his children to help. A teacher saw Ye Pei sweating like a pig and advised him to take care of himself, rest more and take care of himself. He always said, "Scientific experiments can't be interrupted at all. Once they are interrupted, all previous efforts will be wasted. And time is precious, trees blossom and bear fruit once a year. If we lose this opportunity, we will postpone it for one year. "

Ye Pei does not seek fame and fortune, and never cares about personal gains and losses and fame. Over the past decades, he has cultivated many new tree species (varieties) and achieved remarkable results. However, he is modest and prudent, open-minded, never boasting, and always regards the scientific research achievements he presided over as the results of the collective work of all comrades in the teaching and research section. Ye Pei has always lived a hard and simple life, being thrifty and frugal. At ordinary times, he dresses simply and has no food to eat. He always demands that he is an ordinary worker, approachable and never pretends to be an old professor. Some people who don't know him often mistake him for an old worker and make many jokes. He saves money personally, but he has been generous in subscribing for government bonds and donating money to support the disaster-stricken areas over the years.
