Zou Hongyu comes from Dongzigou Village, Sunjiawan Town, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. Different from other singers' professional or quasi-professional backgrounds, Zou Hongyu has basically not received systematic music education. I learned some basic knowledge of music intermittently during my freshman year in senior three, and the rest were taught by myself, such as piano, guitar, composition, arrangement and English. His favorite singers are all his teachers.

Zou Hongyu's musical enlightenment began with a tape of Mariah Carey. At that time, he was in high school. Although he likes singing, he is afraid of talking. People around him think his voice is strange, and everything he sings is strange. Mariah Carey's songs helped him find something he could feel. Since then, he has been fascinated by English songs and tried more styles, but he is still confused and can't find a clear direction. He is still a weirdo who is not suitable for singing in the eyes of people around him. What really changed Zou Hongyu's view on music and established his confidence in singing was amy winehouse, a talented singer who shocked the world with mixed praise. There are many similarities between Zou Hongyu's voice and amy winehouse's voice, which greatly released him when he covered Amy's works, and made him bravely sing with his own voice for the first time in his life.

The unique learning process has created Zou Hongyu's unique singing style. It is difficult to define him by a certain musical style. His singing blended jazz, blues and R&; B, soul, pop, lyricism and other elements, so that when he covers songs, he always sings a different taste from the original. "What a wonderful world", which made him stand out, is an example. He exclaimed, "I didn't know it was that classic song until I listened to the whole song, and it felt completely different from the original song."

Since the third year of senior high school, Zou Hongyu had the idea of learning music, so he began to cram the basic knowledge of music at the home of a high school music teacher. Before the college entrance examination, I participated in an interview in Peking University as a student of Shenyang Music Art, and found that the tuition fee was far beyond my family's affordability, so I switched to the music education major of Chaoyang Normal University. A year later, I chose to drop out of school because I felt that what I learned at school was not what I expected. After farming at home for a year, with the support of my mother, I went to Dalian alone to find my musical ideal and bought a piano. During my stay in Dalian, I tried to sing in a bar many times and failed. I started to practice piano sparring, and a large number of cover songs were published on the Internet, and some original works also came out.
