Why did the ancient dramatists have such a low status?

It has nothing to do with the concept that "everything is inferior and reading is high". For example, farmers do not study, but they are "up to nine streams."

Personally, I think the low status of actors is mainly due to the following reasons:

1. Actors don't care about production and are not at ease with the country. This violates the values required by farming civilization.

2. Actors will shave their heads for acting, which conflicts with the traditional filial piety of "parents' suffering", and they will leave their homes and perform everywhere, unable to serve their parents, which is also contrary to the filial piety that was highly valued in ancient times.

Actors sometimes have to dress up, men dress up as women, and actresses have to show their faces, all of which violate the concept of feudal ethics.

The opera industry is usually an extension of the ancient sex industry, even including male singers, who are prostitutes all day and night. The ancients often compared these two occupations.

5. The player class originated from slaves, mostly from economically poor families or sinner families, and their status is not high.

6. In a difficult and depressing living environment, the actors degenerate while seeking glory. Many people have developed a distorted mentality, relying on power and potential, without the moral integrity in the eyes of the ancients.
