Zhang Yun, the author of China Monster Story, told us that the monster story in China can be traced back to the Stone Age at the earliest, and the monster story and the monster story culture developed in step with our civilization. It is no exaggeration to say that we have a monster history of 10 thousand years.

However, we have such a long history of monster culture, but there are not many ancient books devoted to recording these monster cultures, except such famous books or classical novels as Shan Hai Jing, Search for Ji Shen, Map of Bai Ze, Romance of Shen Feng, Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio and The Journey to the West. But these are just nine hairs in Niu Yi's various works.

Shigeru Mizuki, a famous Japanese monster research scholar, once said that if Japanese monsters can be traced back, 70% are from China, 20% are from India, and only 10% are Japanese monsters.

Sadly, however, local monsters are mistaken for outsiders. Therefore, Zhang Yun, the owner of Soushen Pavilion, who is obsessed with monsters, spent ten years collecting a large number of monster classics, looking for stories and sources of monsters, ghosts and monsters, redefining our monsters and writing a book "China Monster Story".

There are 1080 monsters collected in The Biography of the Monsters in China, which contains all the monsters we have heard and those we have never heard of. It is the most complete monster pedigree in history. Unfortunately, there are no illustrations in this amazing book, so readers can't see the strange appearance they like, and it's hard to imagine the appearance of these 1080 monsters out of thin air.

So Zhang Yun, the author, and Miao Jiu, a modern illustrator, selected 100 monsters on the basis of The Monster Story of China, made a special portrait, and combined today's The Monster Story of China for a long time.

This book has selected 100 monster stories with profound meanings, which are divided into four categories: monsters, utensils, plants and animals. Each book featured 25 monsters, drawn by illustrator Miao Jiu, which is a modern version of "Illusory Picture Book". Every monster has a portrait in this picture book. In Miao Jiu's works, these monsters are lifelike, lifelike and full of national flavor.

Another example is "The Messenger of Dongcang", the opening of "Animals", which tells the story of a mouse helping a widowed old lady who lives by begging. But the help of the mousetrap was based on stealing other people's finances, but the old lady did not stop it, but accepted its help with a clear conscience, until one day the neighbor found the clue and borrowed a spell from the Taoist priest to get rid of the mousetrap, and the old lady became a beggar again.
