Why is Xue Baochai unwilling to teach Xiang Ling to write poetry?

This seems to have become one of Baochai's crimes. However, I am responsible for this issue, because I thought so before. Today, with the deepening of my understanding of Baochai, when I look at this issue again, I am much more detached. If I are detached, I may see it more clearly.

When looking at this problem, we must pay attention to three points:

First, Xiangling can enter the Grand View Garden because of Baochai's credit. She did not ask for it from her mother. Xiangling entered the Grand View Garden. Can't go to the Grand View Garden. Xiangling can't enter the Grand View Garden, so it's impossible to learn poetry;

Second, Baochai teaches Xiangling indirectly, as shown in two places in the novel. One place is:

Xiang Ling smiled and said: "Good girl, don't mess with me." As he said it, he composed a song and looked at it with Baochai first. Baochai looked at it and smiled and said, "This is not good, it's not the way to do it. Don't be shy, just show it to him and see what he says." After hearing this, Xiangling took the poem to Daiyu.

Another place is:

Baochai smiled and said: "It's not like chanting the moon. Adding the word '色' under the word moon makes it look like the moon." Color. That's all. It turns out that the poem was just nonsense. It would have been a few days later. "Xiang Ling felt that this poem was so wonderful. When she heard this, she was disappointed and refused to put her hand away, so she started to think about it.

Thirdly, Baochai tacitly approved and even supported Xiangling's study of poetry. If Baochai did not support it, Xiangling would not be able to learn poetry even if she entered the Grand View Garden. Baochai's concern for Xiangling's poetry life is clear evidence.

So, why didn’t Baochai teach Xiangling poetry in person? I think there are several reasons.

First of all, Baochai doesn’t want to be self-important.

We know that since the Poetry Society was founded in Grand View Garden, Xue Lin has always been a contender for the championship. There have been many overt and covert battles during this period. By the 45th chapter, Xue Lin has put aside the past feud and married Jinlan. Be sisters. In other words, whether it is poetry or love, the two have reached a tacit understanding and have no intention of competing. Especially Baochai, she has decided to give in. At this time, how can she still teach Xiangling to learn poetry? Woolen cloth? Teaching Xiangling poetry, does it imply that she is the first in poetry in the Grand View Garden? There is this meaning, so Baochai will never teach Xiangling to learn poetry.

Furthermore, Xiangling is the Xue family. When she arrives at the Grand View Garden, what if Baochai still teaches her poetry? Doesn't it seem that the Xue family is too trusting, a bit like the king's mother-in-law selling melons? This is definitely not Baochai's style.

Secondly, based on the relationship with Xue Lin in Chapter 45, the sophisticated Baochai has already calculated that as long as Xiangling wants to learn poetry, there will definitely be someone to teach her, and this person is the most qualified. It may be Lin Daiyu. On the one hand, this is because Lin Daiyu already likes Xiangling. On the other hand, it is Xue Lin who has cleared up the past and Baochai decided to withdraw from the competition for Baodai's love. For Daiyu, it is a great relief and gratitude. In order to thank Baochai, Daiyu also taught Xiangling poetry. This is actually exactly the same as Daiyu's intimacy with Baoqin and calling Aunt Xue her mother.

Thirdly, the so-called unity of Chai and Dai means that after the forty-fifth episode of heart-to-heart communication, Chai and Dai have become brothers and sisters. If you teach yourself, it's the same.

Fourthly, Baochai asked her mother for Xiangling on the pretext of serving herself. If Baochai taught Xiang Ling to learn poetry again, it would be a shame for Xiang Ling. It will arouse the dissatisfaction of Aunt Xue and the jealousy of the Xue family servants. At least they will think that Xiangling does not understand the rules and is lazy, which is not good for Xiangling. Daiyu taught Xiangling to learn poetry, which can excuse Xiangling. The Xue family can only understand it as Daiyu's kindness and kindness to the Xue family, and cannot find any problem with Xiangling. This is actually protecting Xiangling.

In short, that’s it. Half of Xiangling's happiness in the Grand View Garden was made possible by Baochai. Without Baochai, Xiangling would not have been able to enter the Grand View Garden. Half of it was made possible by Daiyu. Without Daiyu, Xiangling would not have become a poet so quickly. Therefore, it is absolutely impossible for Xiangling to learn poetry without Baochai.

Of course, the rest of the people in Grand View Garden, like Chai Dai, treat Xiang Ling equally and sincerely care for Xiang Ling, so that this woman who has lived a hard life can enjoy short-term but eternal happiness.
