Introduction to Wuchuan Dialect

Wuchuan dialect is a transitional language between Cantonese and Vietnamese, belonging to Guangzhou dialect. It is a special mixed language combining ancient Chinese, Cantonese, Minnan and slang with ancient Vietnamese. Wuchuan dialect, namely Yi language, is commonly known as Wuchuan bone. Wuchuan has many folk languages with different pronunciations, especially Wuyang and Huangpo (including Potou and Nansan) near Zhanjiang. The biggest feature of Wuchuan dialect is its strong ancient rhyme. In pronunciation, Wuchuan dialect is flat, even and harmonious, which is rare in China.
