Who are the legendary figures around you?

In the 1960s, there was a small group in the village called "Zhi Guo". Maybe the name is too big, which leads to the big name overwhelms the intelligence. When it comes to governing the country, the mind is less flexible than others, and the reaction is slower than normal people. At that time, the tuition fee for elementary school was one yuan a year, and it cost ten yuan to reach fourth grade because I had to repeat the grade for six years.

When Zhiguo was four years old, his father built a reservoir for the commune. Unfortunately, he was injured by a dumb cannon and died. He and his mother depended on each other. When Zhi Guo was in his second fourth grade, the principal gave his mother some ideological work: it would be enough if he could write his own name and calculate single-digit addition and subtraction. Even in a fifty-dollar elementary school, he could not calculate double-digit numbers. Add or subtract, don’t waste money.

After the principal said this, my mother became discouraged and stopped letting Zhiguo go to school. She took him home and gave him a hoe to learn farm work.

But after the principal made such a fuss, the whole village regarded Zhi Guo as a joke. Sometimes when they met Zhi Guo, the villagers teased him: Zhi Guo, what is 5+6?

Zhiguo pointed his fingers, added a toe, and calculated for a long time: equal to 11.

The villagers asked again: What is 11 + 12?

This is troublesome. It has exceeded the number of fingers and toes. It took me a long time to calculate the number of fingers and toes.

The villagers say that governing the country will always only have the IQ of an eight-year-old child, so they regard governing the country as a negative teaching material for educating children: If you don’t study well, you will be given ten yuan to study in elementary school like governing the country.

When he governs the country, he only has the IQ of an eight-year-old child. When he grows up, he always maintains the purity of an eight-year-old child. When he was in his twenties, his mother fell ill and died. When he governs the country, he makes a living by doing part-time labor for the villagers. He will not be lazy and spares no effort, and does not care about the reward. When the busy farming season comes, the villagers line up to hire him, making their livelihood worry-free and extremely happy. After work every night, I would drink a bowl of wine at my employer's house, grab three bowls of rice, and then go home singing tuneless children's songs loudly.

When the villagers heard the song of governing the country, they all sighed: It is still a carefree and happy life to govern the country.

The social atmosphere at that time was not very good. There were always a few scoundrels in the village who stole chickens and dogs, claiming to be kings and hegemons. Others did not dare to deal with them, but they dared to govern the country. Once, the famous gangster "Five Rotten Sons" in the village stopped Zhi Guo on the Fengyu Bridge and asked him to pay for cigarettes. Zhiguo said: You have hands and feet, go and earn money to buy it yourself.

The "Five Rotten Sons" could not stand the opposition of Zhi Guo, so they started to beat him. As a result, the "Five Rotten Sons", who were so arrogant and powerful, did not see any use, and were knocked down by Zhi Guo after three strikes, five divided by two. On the ground, one leg was broken.

The villagers watched and saw that they had won the victory in governing the country. They rushed to tell each other and the whole village celebrated. The "Five Rotten Sons" were completely disgraced. After their legs were healed, they no longer dared to do evil.

In 1988, the village built a road and a temple had to be relocated. But the villagers were taboo and no one dared to move the statues enshrined in the temple. In the end, the person in charge offered a reward: whoever moved the statue would be rewarded fifty yuan, plus a rooster and a pot of soju.

Faced with this huge reward, no one dared to take action. The villagers suggested: Please come to Zhiguo.

After Zhiguo was invited, he simply bowed to the statue three times, hugged the statue and left. After he finished, he received the reward and left with the rooster and wine. Afterwards, I had no disasters, no illness, and lived a good life. The villagers said that the heart of governing the country is pure and upright, and the Bodhisattva will not punish sins.

In 1994, a villager caught fire. Zhiguo jumped in from the window and took out a five-year-old girl. As a result, his hair was singed and the left side of his face was burned. After treatment, large and ugly scars were left.

To be grateful for Zhi Guo’s life-saving grace, the little girl recognized Zhi Guo as her godfather. Zhiguo, who became a godfather, often carried his goddaughter on his shoulders and ran to the small shop to buy food for his goddaughter. His happiness was beyond words.

In 2006, when Zhiguo was seriously ill and knew that his time was running out, he called the village cadre into his home, took out a broken bag from under the bed, handed it to the village cadre and said: "I have saved all my life." Divide the money into two parts, one for your goddaughter to go to college, and the other for the village to rebuild the Wind and Rain Bridge.

Soon after, Zhiguo died of illness at the age of fifty-eight. On the day of the funeral, the villagers walked through the streets to see her off, and the procession was two miles long.

This man has passed away, but his thoughts will remain forever. Someone left an elegiac couplet on the dilapidated doorframe of the country:

Without desires, one can be strong and happy, and great wisdom is like foolishness, reflecting on the eternity.
