The Olympic main stadium is the center of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, located in Marosi, a northern suburb of Athens, and is a part of the Athens Olympic complex. The stadium can accommodate 55,000 spectators and will hold the opening and closing ceremonies, track and field and football matches.

Inspired by the creativity of the Ministry of Culture in Athens, Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava added many innovative ideas to the upgrading project of the comprehensive stadium, including the roof structure design of the Olympic main stadium.

The main stadium project was implemented by the Greek Ministry of Culture and completed in July 2004.

Olympic Water Sports Center will hold Olympic swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming and diving competitions. The water sports center consists of two outdoor swimming pools and an indoor swimming pool.
