Another Zen story

There was an old Zen master who was accompanied by a boy. The boy did not understand the etiquette and rules of the temple at all. One day, a traveling monk came. Seeing that the boy was ignorant, he taught him various etiquette.

After nightfall, when the boy saw the old Zen master coming back from outside, he went up to him and politely greeted him. The old Zen master was surprised and asked the boy: "Who taught you this?"

The boy said: "It's the walking monk."

The old Zen master called the walking monk Come and say, "What is your attitude? This boy has been with me for two or three years. He is pitiful and innocent at the same time. Who wants you to teach him bad things? Get dressed quickly and leave!"

As a result, the walking monk was driven out of the temple in the heavy rain at dusk.

Some people say: "I love girls, because girls have the shortest stories." Others say: "I love children even more, because children have no stories yet." Childhood is nostalgic because it is carefree. Why carefree? Because "there's no story yet."

Zen Master Shandao said: "When a child is born, he does not have any insights. How can he understand what sutras and teachings are at that time? But when he grows up, he learns all kinds of knowledge and understanding, knowing how this should be done and what should be done. How, but I don’t understand that these are all unreasonable worries. Therefore, those who study Taoism will praise babies for not having a mind to choose.”

Because of the “story”, they become “sophisticated”.

The so-called "restoring childlike innocence" and "regaining the innocent heart" does not mean abandoning all knowledge and experience and becoming ignorant and childish, but it means being able to "have no discrimination" like children, without If you make different choices and have no unnecessary worries, you will naturally be carefree.
