SV-99 is a small-caliber, light and close-range sniper rifle specially designed for Russian special forces by Russian Izmashi company. Nowadays, it is popular to increase the power and range in the design of sniper rifles, and it is extremely rare to use 22LR bullets like SV-99.

Therefore, there is a joke among some Russian weapons designers who have participated in the design of "serious weapons" such as assault rifles or large-caliber sniper rifles. They all laughed at the use of 22LR bullets as a "fly killer" weapon, which means that this ammunition is not suitable as a combat weapon. According to official propaganda, there is a precedent for using 22LR caliber weapons to participate in the war of resistance.

During the Vietnam War, Vietnamese agents often used the old-fashioned TOZ.22LR rifle as a melee weapon or sniper rifle, and achieved considerable success in urban battles. You can also get similar reports from snipers who participated in the Chechen operation. Ordinary 22LR caliber Sobol shotguns are often used in Grozny's sniper warfare, and some smart guys even put plastic bottles with holes in the muzzle as silencers! ?

They say this rifle is light and accurate at close range. The muzzle noise of this small caliber rifle fired from the inside of the building is very low, which is almost impossible to hear beyond 100 meters.

Their quietness and accuracy are important factors that make this "fly killer" an effective killing weapon. A sniper once said-if a target is within 100 meters, you don't need to hit the trunk at all, just greet the exposed neck, face and head!

In fact, the advantage of 22LR caliber in silencing weapons is really obvious, and the sound is very low. Therefore, OSS in the United States once used the 22LR caliber high-standard pistol with muffler as an assassination weapon or a sharp weapon to touch the whistle. Of course, the shortcomings of this caliber are also obvious-the effective range is extremely close, the power is extremely low, and it can only be used at close range. It is best to hit the key parts of the target with one shot.

The main reason for using those 22LR weapons in Vietnam and Chechnya is the lack of weapons. SV-99, as a special short-range micro-sound sniper rifle for police, is only suitable for shooting lights, dealing with watchdog or touching whistle. Although Izmarsh has been mass-producing this kind of gun, there is no broader market prospect except for a very small amount of equipment of Russian special forces.

SV-99 itself is designed on the basis of Biathlon- series biathlon rifles, and the biggest feature of this series of rifles is the straight-pull bolt mechanism with toggle locking mechanism. The on/off of this elbow-bar straight gun machine is realized by a set of lever devices.

When the pull rod connected with the puller handle moves to the dead point, the bolt will stay in the locked position. Once the bolt is ready for impact, it can only be opened by applying backward pressure on the side shoulder of the handle. This gun is equipped with a detachable magazine. The capacity of plastic magazine is 5 rounds, but 8 rounds or 10 rounds can also be used.

Another feature of SV-99 is that it adopts a detachable stock, and there is a protruding part on the left rear side of the chassis to control the installation of stock parts. You can decide whether to install the butt or pistol grip according to the needs of the battlefield environment.

The detachable butt stock can make the butt stock in a more compact state; Changing the pistol grip is beneficial to operating in a narrow melee environment. The structure of stock is similar to that of SVD, the back of wooden stock handle and most stock are hollow, but SV-99 stock is equipped with adjustable bottom plate and cheek plate to ensure the shooter to shoot in a comfortable state. The up-and-down adjustment range of the cheek plate is 30mm, the height adjustment range of the bottom plate is 7.5mm, and the back-and-forth adjustment range is 6 mm.

In addition, the stock of SV-99 is more functional and the lower part is hollow. In this small space, two spare magazines with 5 rounds capacity can be placed. This small space has a plastic cover to protect the magazine from dust. ?

SV-99 gun has a very compact structure, which can be divided into several parts and can be easily carried with a medium-sized backpack or box. The longest part-barrel and shell with wood protection-is only 520 mm long. A guide rail is arranged below the front guard wood for installing the foldable tripod. There is a thread at the end of the muzzle of the barrel, which is used to install a small muffler-.22LR caliber, which does not need too complicated muffler and can really meet the requirements.

SV-99 has no mechanical sight, and there is a pair of dovetail joints arranged in front and back at the top of the shell, through which various telescopic sights can be quickly installed. The standard sight is 4×37mm, but other types of sights can also be installed.

SV-99 is equipped with the following accessories in the factory: two spare magazines, wire harness of silencer with adjustable two-legged pistol grip, and a set of maintenance tools, including a through rod. SV-99 can shoot 10 rounds at a distance of 100m, and a number of good results are scattered in 1MOA.
