I. Appearance
First of all, from the appearance, the overall design is nothing new, and I am disappointed. The angle of the rear side looks even similar to that of Tucki P7. However, the appearance belongs to the independent aesthetic category, and there are different opinions, so it will not be launched.
The family face inherits the existing ES8/ES6 style and looks like a flat ES6 from the front of the car. Elements regarded as selling points such as double dash daytime running lights can be found on ES6. Penetrating taillights are also a bad stalk for domestic and foreign automobile manufacturers in recent years.
Because of the lidar, there is a bump on the front roof, and the "corners" on both sides of the bump are cameras. Judging from the currently announced configuration, lidar is standard, so if you like a more concise and streamlined appearance, I'm sorry, there isn't.
Second, the body.
Weilai claims that ET7 has "the leading body size of the same class", but we don't know which class "the same class" refers to. Judging from the social remarks of company executives before the press conference, I should be rubbing on the BMW 7 Series.
But I think this should be a joke. Judging from the body size, ET7 and ET7 series have nothing to do anyway:
The size of ET7 (length 5098mm/ wheelbase 3060mm) is much smaller than that of BMW 7 Series (length 5273mm/ wheelbase 32 10mm).
-Compared with the BMW 5 Series long wheelbase version (length 5 106mm/ wheelbase 3 105mm), it is also much smaller.
-The closest car to ET7 is Volvo S90 (length 5090mm/ wheelbase 306 1mm).
Like the "habit" of Weilai and most electric vehicle manufacturers, the service quality data of ET7 has not been published. In fact, everyone is used to the amazing weight of electric vehicles over 2.3 tons, and they don't expect how good the handling performance of vehicles over 2 tons can be, and there is no need to hide it.
The cruising range data shows that the ET7 equipped with the same battery pack has more cruising range 10% than the ES6 performance version. The kerb quality of ES6 performance version is about 2.4 tons, so we preliminarily judge that the kerb quality of ET7 is a little lighter than that of ES6 performance version, and it should be between 2.2 and 2.3 tons.
Third, internally.
ET7 is not only very similar in body size to Volvo S90, but also very similar in interior design style. The overall shape is more concise than the current family models. Whether it is the renewable wooden decorative board in the tropical rain forest or the white/gray color matching of the steering wheel, it is reminiscent of the cold wind in northern Europe.
The instrument and screen layout are the same as ES6, with the same 10.2-inch digital instrument and 12.8-inch vertical screen central control. Compared with the popular dual 12.3-inch conjoined screen or the fourth screen, the sense of science and technology is at least several years behind.
Fourth, the chassis system
If the appearance and interior design of ET7 are lazy and basically copy the existing ES6/EC6 design, then the chassis design should be regarded as a retrogression in engineering.
Why do you say that? In order to determine the handling of the car, the type of front suspension has been reduced from double wishbone to multi-link type. The double wishbone front suspension is a ticket for luxury cars, which has better lateral support than McPherson and multi-link type. The structure is more complicated and the cost is higher. Other chassis configurations are also lacking, including active air suspension, CDC dynamic damping control, Brembo front four-piston brakes, etc., which are basically the same as ES6.
It is worth mentioning that Wei Lai claims that the braking distance of 100-0 of ET7 is 33.5 meters. According to our actual experience, the braking force of ES6 performance version equipped with the same brake is not bad at first when driving on continuous mountain roads, but with the continuous downhill, it is easy to cause overheating of the brakes, attenuation of braking performance and softening of the pedals.
Therefore, when looking at the brake configuration, we should not only look at the brake distance data, but also look at the stability of the brake distance after at least ten consecutive 100-0 brake tests.
Verb (abbreviation for verb) NAD autopilot
Yes, Wei Lai no longer said "assisted driving" cautiously this time. With lidar and high-definition camera, you can finally say "automatic driving" on your hips. If ET7 is boring as a car itself, NAD is the biggest protagonist of this conference.
ET7 is equipped with the latest NIO autopilot technology (NAD), which is independently developed from sensing algorithm to map positioning, from control strategy to the underlying system. Also released are NIO Aquila Weilai extrasensory system and NIO Adam Weilai supercomputing platform.
NIO Aquila's extrasensory system can be understood as NAD's eyes. It has 33 high-performance sensors. Visually, it is equipped with the world's first 8 megapixel self-driving HD camera. Compared with Tesla's 65438+200,000 pixel camera, the resolution is improved by 6 times. The layout of the watchtower allows the sensor to see farther and have fewer blind spots. And lidar is a big killer. Weilai's lidar is a hybrid solid-state lidar with ultra-wide viewing angle 120 degrees and ultra-long detection distance of 500 meters. It has focusing function and can distinguish more details.
Neo Adam is Nader's brain. It is the first in the world to be equipped with NVIDIA Drive Orin chips and 48 CPU cores. The total power is as high as 10 16 TOPS, which is more than the total power of seven Tesla fsds. With ultra-high bandwidth backbone data network, the signal input of all sensors and vehicle systems is distributed to each computing core in real time, which makes the calculation faster and more accurate when dealing with complex traffic scenes.
Is it worth considering?
The newly released 150kWh solid-state battery pack has the largest capacity among all electric vehicles at present. Installed on ET7, it can achieve NEDC endurance over 1000 km. However, it will not be listed until the fourth quarter of 2022. ET7 will not be delivered until the first quarter of 2022, that is, one year later.
In this era of rapid development of battery and intelligent electric vehicle technology, Weilai has been playing games for a year before the product goes on the market, which is a double-edged sword. Although it can boost investors' confidence, it also gives friends a longer window time to deal with it.
And don't forget that the pollution caused by the production and recycling of batteries is always the original sin of electric vehicle enterprises. In the future, electric vehicle companies like Weilai will be big polluters on the earth. At present, we haven't heard any car company announce a sustainable battery recycling scheme or a pollution-free treatment method.
