Why is the word "Xue" not stamped on the plaque of Xiamen University? Lu Xun didn't write wrong. What is the reason?

Mr. Lu Xun, a master of contemporary literature, is a literary predecessor admired by scholars. We have studied many articles created by him when we were studying. Even in those days, many celebrities liked to ask Lu Xun for help in writing inscriptions when they met anything. To this end, Xiamen University invited Lu Xun to write an inscription for the plaque of its university. Lu Xun used to write the word "door" without a hook and the word "learning" without a cover. The phrase "beating one's chest and feet and pointing fingers" is enough to let the world know Mr. Lu Xun's personality. He is not a vain man. Money, fame and fortune are not important to him, and the small money he earns is enough for his daily life. Therefore, Lu Xun never deliberately tried to please anyone. On the contrary, he will "draw out a sword when he sees rough roads", write articles to tell the true cruelty of contemporary society, and satirize some people and things through writing.

So when Xiamen University sent an inscription invitation, Lu Xun didn't want to agree, because when he was a teacher at Xiamen University, he had a conflict with a Lin Wenqing, so the two sides hated each other. Because of this, Lu Xun must not want to have too much contact with Xiamen University.

Later, perhaps out of nostalgia, I agreed. After all, 1926 Lu Xun was invited to be a professor in the Chinese Department of Xiamen University. Although I have been teaching for two years, it is inevitable that I have some feelings. To this end, he personally wrote four characters for Xiamen University as a plaque of the school.

If you are lucky enough to study in Xiamen University or visit there, you will find four gold-painted characters hanging directly above the gate of Xiamen University: "Xiamen University" is the last word, with no cover, and the second word "door" has no hook, which is a bit crooked. It is said that these four Chinese characters were written in calligraphy, and then craftsmen were hired to make the plaque completely.

Then the most controversial is the last word "Xue". According to the cursive writing, Xue in China's Chinese characters can be divided into two types. The first is the simplified Chinese characters introduced after liberation, which we learned when we were studying. The word "Xue" was covered with a layer of treasure because it evolved from cursive script, but there were many ways to write the word "Xue" before. The "learning" in cursive script is scrawled, close to the style of calligraphy, and only those who know calligraphy can see why.

In addition, people who have studied cursive script and those who have never studied cursive script have different views on the final learning method of Xiamen University. After all, in the eyes of people who know cursive script, they will think that a turning point can change the influence of a word, while those who don't learn cursive script will think that if the same word is written in a crooked way, it means the same thing and rarely understand its connotation. Therefore, this kind of "learning" without cover is actually to show the difference between cursive and simplified Chinese characters, and it is a form of cursive culture.

Also, the words on the plaque of Xiamen University were not written by Mr. Lu Xun himself, but by some famous calligraphers in China, only borrowing the calligraphy of Lu Xun's predecessors. The famous calligrapher was obsessed with Lu Xun's calligraphy and learned a lot from it. In particular, there is something called "ji zi" in Lu Xun's calligraphy, which embodies the aesthetic pursuit of writing the most calligraphy. The so-called word set, which combines creation and art, is displayed through calligraphy.

It is a great test of the author's calligraphy skills and personal style. He should not only be familiar with all kinds of rules, but also be able to integrate into his own creative ideas. Sometimes he will refer to the writings of some ancient masters, such as the existing works of poets and writers in the Tang Dynasty.

As for the word "learning", it is not a cover. There is also a saying that Mr. Lu Xun wants to convey it in words, and there is no end to learning. Lu Xun wrote a word in a profound cursive script, which benefited the students of later generations. So Lu Xun didn't write wrong! Friends, don't joke. But for people who don't know cursive script, when they see "Xiamen University", they may mistakenly think that this is how the learning characters and door characters were written in the Republic of China. In fact, they are all cursive scripts in China, not simplified characters.
