The Artistic Form of Fuzhou Pinghua

There is no strict melody theory in the music singing of Fuzhou Pinghua. According to the intonation of Fuzhou dialect, Dao has the functions of awakening wood, folding fans and adding cymbals (with fingers and bamboo sticks) as intermittent percussion instruments. Comments pay attention to rap and consumption. The lyrics are mostly seven words, and there are also eight or nine words. Folding fan: black fan, brown wood reinforcement, different from the white fan used in North-South Pinghua. Used in all seasons, it plays the role of expanding gestures and helping expressions. It is also a Taoist skill, compared with knives, guns, sticks, books, letters and plates.

The cymbal is similar to the cymbal in Buddhist musical instruments, but it coincides with the three characteristics of bronze cymbals in Shang Dynasty: single; Hit its side with a pole and hold it to sing. Workmanship: Fuzhou Pinghua mainly recites scriptures, supplemented by hands and faces (expressions). Expression pays attention to eyes and face style, followed by gestures and body movements. Take parody as the situation, focus on the likeness of spirit, and strive to unify the likeness and likeness of spirit.

Flowers: Jokes and gimmicks are also indispensable artistic means of Fuzhou commentary. There are two kinds of flowers: "bone clip" and "flower arrangement". Flowers with Bones is a joke that highlights characters and stories. "Flower arrangement" means that the storyteller intersperses some small paragraphs that have nothing to do with the story.

The traditional performance of Fuzhou Pinghua is ostentation and extravagance: build a small platform with a bench on it. Fragrant flowers, fresh fruits and cakes are placed on the table, and the actors are escorted to the stage with guns fired. After a few minutes, they are seated.
