Couplets are the essence of ancient culture in China. Our class held a unique lecture on couplets.

First, the teacher asked us to say some famous couplets and explain their meanings. Then the teacher told us the origin of posting couplets: According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Confucius went to a place called Cai Chen and ran out of dry food, so he asked his disciple Zi Gong to borrow food from a man named Fan Dan. Fan Dan asked Confucius to say a word, and he must use "how much happiness is good or bad". Confucius said: "there are many good people in heaven and earth, but few bad people;" I am happy when I borrow, and I am annoyed when I borrow. " So Fan Dan gave Confucius a bucket of rice. Later, Fan Dan asked Confucius to return the rice, but Confucius could not fill a bucket of rice. In order to save face, Confucius had to say to him, "Anyone who sees couplets posted on the door can beg for food in the future." "When Confucius returned, he said to the scholar," In the future, all scholars and families should put up couplets, and if beggars come to the door, they should give alms as much as possible. "Later, couplets spread to today.

Finally, the teacher asked the students to write their own couplets to see which one was written well. The students compiled many good couplets. There is a couplet that combines words and phrases: stepping on three stones in Qiao Lei, separated by two mountains. I feel this couplet is really well written. I savored the phrase "stepping on three stones in Qiao Lei" and divided Lei Zi into three stones. The word "Lei" consists of three stones. The sentence "separated by two mountains" divides the word "Chu" into two mountains. Isn't the word "Chu" just two mountains together? Well done!

Not only the combination of words, but also the artistic conception: "the breeze is fine and the willows are fine, and the plum blossoms are light." This couplet makes people walk into the artistic conception of poetry. At night, the breeze is blowing gently, which makes people feel refreshed. The branches of willow trees on the beach gently touch the bank, and the bright moonlight makes the quiet night clearer. The cold plum stands proudly in the wind, especially in the moonlight. What a beautiful mood!

Unconsciously, the happy time passed. This lecture on couplet knowledge not only let me know the story of posting couplets, but also let me know how to do them. I hope that more such activities will be held, so that we can learn more about extracurricular knowledge.
