Brief introduction of Mianyang folk songs

Mianyang folk songs are the national music of the Han nationality in Hubei. The content is very rich. According to the newly revised Mianyang Record, it can be roughly divided into eight types, namely: chant, Tian Ge, minor, lantern song, folk song, children's song, revolutionary historical folk song, Xinmin song and so on. Most of these folk songs are produced in people's daily life, expressing their feelings of sadness, joy and hatred, as well as their pursuit of a better life. Mianyang folk songs are rooted in Mianyang dialect. From the analysis of language tone and color, Mianyang, Qianjiang and Tianmen are a color area, which has a certain influence on Jianghan Plain because of their little external influence and relative independence. Mianyang is the center of this color zone, and the language tones spread radially to the surrounding counties and cities to form variations. During the period of 1958, Biyang Cultural Center, together with the teachers and students of Central South Conservatory of Music, collected more than 100 folk songs, which were later adapted into "Hubei Folk Songs Integration" with more than 30 songs. From 1978 to 1980, the county cultural center collected 336 folk songs, 94 of which were included in China Folk Songs Integrated Hubei Volume, Hubei Folk Songs Integrated Jingzhou Volume and Jingzhou Folk Songs Collection.
