How poor was your family when it was poorest?

Speaking of poverty, I will think of my childhood. At that time, houses seemed to use a basin to receive water when it rained. In the most difficult time, even the dilapidated house was gone. Only one plastic shed is our home.

I was born in a poor rural area. At that time, people's main source of income seemed to be only a few acres of land at home. Our family has a small land and a large population, and life has always been embarrassing. I still remember that at first our house was made of bricks and mud, with a thick layer of loess outside and a layer of tiles on the roof. Whenever it rains, there is light rain in the house, so we use a basin to pick it up. Later, a heavy rain collapsed our house and we had to find another place to live.

At that time, the family was very poor and could not afford to buy bricks and cement to build a new house. So we built a temporary small house with a plastic shed and several beds as our resting place. I was still very young at that time, and I didn't think there was anything wrong with being poor. It is only occasionally that other children will envy them when they eat snacks and wear beautiful clothes. I didn't even eat the most common spicy strips when I was a child. I have no pocket money and beautiful clothes. I only wore patchwork clothes.

When you are poor, the food is delicious. At that time, we had no money to buy food, so we opened up a small vegetable garden and planted some tomatoes and beans. When the vegetables are not ripe, a steamed bread with some brown sugar is a good meal. Poverty doesn't seem to stop our happiness. When you have nothing to do, you can burn a coal stove and bake a golden steamed bread, which will be delicious now.

Therefore, poverty is not terrible. As long as our hearts are rich, we are happy. The poor are not necessarily full of sadness. When they are poor, they are optimistic. As long as they are willing to work hard, the status quo of poverty can be changed. You know, the most terrible thing is never economic poverty, but spiritual poverty. People can be poor, but not short-sighted. People can be poor, but their hearts must be rich.
