Extended information:
Mao Zedong named "Er Qiao"
In 1945, when the Kuomintang first started peace talks after Japan surrendered, Mao Zedong He went to Chongqing to participate in negotiations, and Hu Qiaomu was one of the attachés. Hu Qiaomu's fellow villager and classmate Qiao Guanhua was also in the Eighth Route Army's Chongqing office. The old friends met very happily, but Qiao Guanhua was also a "pen writer" and published articles under the pen name "Qiao Mu", while Hu Qiaomu used the name "Qiao Mu" at that time.
Two "arbors" gathered in the same building and published articles in the same newspaper "Xinhua Daily", making it difficult to tell which "arbor" it was! However, there were also small quarrels. Little joke: Hu Qiaomu's sister Fang Ming, who was working in the White District, saw the "Qiaomu" article published in a Hong Kong newspaper, so she thought her brother was in Hong Kong and wrote a letter, which fell into the hands of Qiao Guanhua.
Now, "Northern Qiao" is going south and reunites with "Southern Qiao" in Chongqing, which is "troublesome"! Since "Qiaomu" comes from "The Book of Songs", it also means "tall and straight", Both "Qiao" like this name and are unwilling to change it: "Nan Qiao" thinks that since his real surname is Qiao, it is logical to use the pen name "Qiao Mu".
As for "Beiqiao", his wife's name, Gu Yu, comes from the same allusion. How can he be willing to change his original name to Hu Dingxin?
Many people were confused when the two Qiao Mu came together, especially when an article signed by "Qiao Mu" was published, which made people even more confused about whether it was written by the Qiao Mu. Friends all hoped that they would be together. Someone in the room changed his name.
As a result, Mao Zedong came forward to clear up the name of "Er Qiao": One day everyone talked about this matter with Chairman Mao Zedong and asked Chairman Mao to make a judgment. Later, Chairman Mao asked that it was him (Beijing) Qiao) first used the name Qiao Mu, but Nan Qiao's real surname was indeed Qiao, and his real surname was Hu, so we hoped that he would add the word "Hu" to his name, while Nan Qiao still used his original name of Qiao Mu.
From then on, there was a difference between the two Qiaomu, and the name "Hu Qiaomu" also became known to the people of the country as the situation developed. "As for "Nan Qiao" Qiao Guanhua only used "Qiao Mu" as a pen name when writing articles. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he became Zhou Enlai's diplomatic deputy, so naturally he used his real name Qiao Guanhua.
