30 psychological films worth watching

As the name implies, psychological films must be related to psychology, not a simple and emotional literary psychology. Accordingly, this film has two forms:

First, the director's purpose is to show some psychological principles or typical psychological obstacles, such as Dr. Edward, The Instinct of the Silent Lamb, Rain Man and A Beautiful Mind.

Second, perhaps the director has no intention to dabble in psychology, but the film is essentially about psychological problems, which is an important support for a certain field or theory of psychology-we remember all the famous films mentioned by the teacher in class, right? The problem that was originally abstract and distant suddenly came alive as if it had been experienced. Of course, this is more subtle, such as Elephant (the shooting incident of middle school students in the United States, when the media are hyping the Ma Jiajue incident, people should especially calm down and watch this movie) and The Beach (a psychological experiment, what else can we say? )。

In short, from the utilitarian point of view, the former is applied self-psychology, while the latter is useful for psychology.

It is worth mentioning that form is secondary. Personally, I don't think Flying Over the Madhouse is a psychological film, because it passes by psychology in terms of purpose and content, and the main issue discussed is freedom and system, which is only used by the venues of mental hospitals.

Psychology is obviously not a master key that can open all doors, even a single door. At best, it is just a key ring. So we seldom find a film specially made for psychology.

The following list of movies is arranged in descending order of time, specifically related to various movies of brain science, psychology, cognition and psychotic symptoms. If the film only pursues the deep psychological description of the role, it will not be included for the time being.

Mainly refer to three indicators: psychological angle, artistry and appreciation.

(Note: did = dissociative identity disorder, which will appear in the following, is often called "multiple personality" in China and is considered as hysterical personality. )

3. The Elephant (2003) The Palme d 'Or Award and the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003.

Director: gus van sant

Starring: Alex forest Eric Deulen john robinson

Type: Plot/Crime

The film is set in 1999, a shooting incident at Columbine Middle School in the United States that shocked the world. It tells the story of a vicious shooting incident in an ordinary middle school in the United States and what happened a few hours ago. The meaning of the title comes from the well-known ancient fable "The blind touch the elephant".

After the Columbine tragedy, the media exaggerated its bloody scene, and many journalists, criminologists, psychologists and juvenile researchers made a lot of analysis and comments. Various speculations and unwarranted accusations revolve around the tragedy of this teenager and have also become a pastime for the public. All this makes director Garth feel disgusted. Garth thinks this is "a scandal in the history of American journalism." He said, "At this time, only movies can reproduce the truth of the whole incident."

The film tries to reproduce the whole process of the event through a "purely objective" film way, rather than subjective judgment on yourself or others. Gus takes two fixed times as the starting point and ending point of the film. During this period, the activities of different protagonists are interrelated and cross each other, and everyone's life becomes the "experience fragment" of each other. However, it is only a fragment, and only by connecting these fragments can we get a complete time.

In addition to the unique narrative of the film, the campus life of teenagers and the problems between them are also revealed. In society, the middle school campus, as an institution of modern society, is also an illusion factory, a laboratory that learns to obey power, and an isolated area with unique logic, order and desire, just like in this American film. Education has become a fictional form, and adults have not yet fundamentally understood the world. The "problem age" of children's sadness, hatred, naivety and loneliness has not been reasonably solved. Gus interviewed many students for filming. He said, "Some middle school students feel that their life is a mess, some people are satisfied, but others directly say that campus life is hell" (quoted from the French poster of Elephant). These hidden problems on campus are like a bomb. The film has pulled the fuse of disaster. When Eric and Alex decided to solve these problems with their own logic and methods, they no longer trusted the adult world. This is not only the tragedy of teenagers, but also the tragedy of the adult world and modern society.

The film objectively reproduces the living environment and their state of contemporary middle school students, and causes the society to pay more attention to the problems of teenagers. For this reason, the French Ministry of Education awarded the first prize to the elephant by an absolute majority in the social education evaluation in 2003, which shows that the film has aroused repercussions in the whole western education circle.

Psychological aspect: the film challenges the realism of traditional films with an unimaginable time and space language. From this perspective, the discussion naturally entered a philosophical level. Time has passed for what has happened. Can the perceptual system established by memory and judgment restore the fact itself? How to get the truth from the phenomenon? Is empirical fact the essence of things? What is the relationship between the artistic fiction of movies and the authenticity of reality? This topic seems to have been extended from Husserl's phenomenology to Deleuze's "image-time theory". Garth wants us to see in this film how blind and ignorant any reason, whether it is ideological power discourse or pure theory/discourse deduction, is in the jungle of phenomena. He said, "I'm like Columbus, I can't do anything." Perhaps, as the preface of "Run Lola" said, "The movie is only 90 minutes, and the rest is theory!"
