"Running on Karma" (English: Running on Karma; Mainland China title "Big Man Has Great Wisdom", the content has been seriously edited) is a Hong Kong film released in 2003, starring Johnnie To and Wei Jiahui As director, and starring Andy Lau and Cecilia Cheung.

The big guy (played by Andy Lau) encounters a police dog while escaping from the pursuit of detective Li Fengyi (played by Cecilia Cheung). At the same time, behind the police dog, he sees the image of a child chasing the dog. The police dog was accidentally shot and killed by police officers chasing the criminals. Big Brother showed for the first time his ability to see cause and effect, and then saw images of Japanese soldiers massacring civilians behind Li.

Seeing that Li Fengyi was kind-hearted, Big Brother decided to help Li investigate a murder case. However, after vowing to solve the case, the two became strangers. After inspecting the corpse in the room, Big Brother once again demonstrated the ability to see the past, calling it "seeing cause and effect." The deceased had betrayed the murderer in the past (previous life), but the murderer (previous life) cut off the left hand of a unicorn beetle after he was killed because he saved it before he died. Li Fengyi went to Wutai Mountain to trace Da Zhi Lao's life experience, and learned that Da Zhi Lao's good friend Xiao Cui was killed by a fugitive named Sun Guo. Big Brother once went to the mountains to chase a murderer and killed a small bird by mistake, so he meditated under a tree. After seven days and seven nights, the big guy said he saw the cause and effect and returned to secular life and no longer became a monk.

During another police hunt for a burglar, Li Fengyi slipped and fell from the building. Fortunately, the big guy came to the rescue in time. The big brother even told Li about seeing images of Japanese soldiers killing people. Li was shocked and thought that he was a Japanese soldier in his previous life and that he would be beaten to death if he had to pay off his debts in this life. But the big guy explained that Li Fengyi was not a Japanese soldier, and the Japanese soldier was not Li Fengyi. It was not a matter of past and present lives. It was the Japanese soldiers who killed people, and Li Fengyi was going to die. It was the law of cause and effect. Li asked back: Is this fair? When Li Fengyi and Da Zhiguo met again, Li asked if this meant that "nothing can be taken away, only karma (evil) remains with me." Li Fengyi helped Big Brother track down the murderer and went to the mountains to track down Sun Guo herself, but was killed. The old master said that although Li Fengyi worked hard and did a good job, her bad karma was still too heavy. As a result, the Japanese soldiers beheaded people, and people also beheaded Li Fengyi.
