How to raise Chinese soft-shelled turtle?

Chinese turtle is a kind of turtle, also known as Chinese turtle, scarab, scarab, black turtle, mud turtle, mountain turtle, smelly green turtle, longevity turtle and so on. , and it is a tortoise under the Eupolyphaga family. So, how to raise Chinese turtle? Let's have a look.

1, the judgment of turtle health.

Answer: There is no obvious scar on skin tissue and carapace, and there is no secretion in eyes.

B: Poke the turtle's limbs with your little hand to see if it retracts. Whether the limbs are pulled back hard (this is to identify the physical condition of the turtle);

C: Open your mouth and breathe. The nose is obviously liquid. This is a precursor to colds and pneumonia;

D: The tortoise floats on the water and doesn't want to get into the water. And after closing your eyes, this initial diagnosis is pneumonia;

E: Look at the armpits of the limbs. Whether there are obvious parasites or skin tissue erosion;

F: Watch the tortoise swim in the water. Whether there is tilt. Or unstable (1: either eating too much; 2: Either the body is overdrawn; 3 respiratory diseases. )

G: Try to be active, if the shop is a jar. You can point a small glass. See if the tortoise reacts (has the urge to eat).

2. Environment.

Besides turtles and semi-water turtles, other turtles such as Brazilian turtles, grass turtles, pearl turtle, crocodile turtles, maps and other water turtles must be kept in the water! ! !

The water level and volume should be sufficient, and the feeding container can at least make it swim. Round containers are not suitable for keeping turtles. Even if you can make do, at least go to the supermarket to buy a rectangular non-toxic plastic box, which is much better than this small cylinder.

The water level depends on the size of the turtle, and generally does not exceed twice the height of its shell. Buy a floating platform or floating island, which is a necessary appliance in the turtle tank ~! So it can climb ashore to rest by itself. It won't be soaked in water all the time. If you want to come up, you can go ashore to dry your back without artificial production.

Turtles need sunshine, so it is recommended to put them on the balcony or in a room facing south. If you touch the tortoise with your hands, you'd better wash your hands in case bacteria are harmful to you.

In summer, you should cover yourself properly and don't get too strong sun. Pay attention to prevent algae from growing in the water tank. You can buy algaecides, which are usually sold in aquarium stores.

The bottom of the tank can be covered with pebbles or pebbles. But if it is paved, it will be very troublesome to change the water. Novices suggest using bare tanks, that is, nothing is paved and no aquatic plants are put in the water.

3. Water for raising turtles.

To use tap water that is dry 1 day or more (for chlorine removal), it is best to prepare two plastic buckets to dry, which can meet the needs of water change.

It is recommended to change the water every two to three days. Only a part of the water needs to be changed at a time, and the water in the whole tank does not need to be changed unless the water and the periphery of the tank are dirty. When the water is partially changed, the dirty water at the bottom is sucked out by using the siphon principle with a plastic small tube, and then fresh water with the same capacity (i.e. dry tap water) is added into the tank.

In this way, the turtle that changes water will not have white eye disease or rotten nails. If it's too much trouble, you can use a strainer, which is the kind used by fish farmers. It is easy to find. The filter can stabilize the water quality and create a good environment when used with nitrifying bacteria. Change more water in summer.

4. About feeding.

The tortoise is eating in the water. When feeding, put the feed directly into the water. Turtles usually feed on pork, beef, shrimp, small fish and livers of poultry and fish. These foods should be chopped or shredded, but these animal feeds are very easy to pollute the water quality. Try not to feed more pork and beef.

Beginners suggest feeding some dried shrimps, dried fish and turtle food, all of which are good. More worry-free, and it is not easy to pollute the water. In summer, the temperature is high, and the turtle's metabolism is fast. It can be fed once a day, but it is generally recommended to feed it once every two to three days. The turtle does not need to be fed too often. As long as sufficient water supply is ensured, it is no problem for them not to eat for half a month, and the amount of turtles fed each time is generally enough for their size.

Like cooked meat and ham sausage, you must never eat it indiscriminately ~! Be sure to pay attention to some necessary knowledge ~!

Don't feed the tortoise salty food, such as salty shrimp, dried fish sausage and so on ~! ! After sodium chloride (salt) is ingested, it will cause edema and renal function damage. Turtle should definitely avoid salt intake ~! It's a little salty ~!

Similarly, the cooked food we usually eat, such as stir-fry, meat, rice, steamed bread and bread, is not suitable for soft-shelled turtle.

5. About the temperature of raising turtles.

The water temperature of 25-28 degrees is the most suitable, and it feels neither too cold nor too hot, just like the water temperature when drinking boiled water in summer. The water temperature at this temperature is very suitable for turtles' daily activities and eating.

It is forbidden to feed and bathe the little turtle with warm water, hot water or very cold water, which will cause pneumonia, stress reaction and other diseases. Don't put the tortoise in the air-conditioned room in summer, just put it on the balcony, because the temperature difference will kill the tortoise.

When the temperature drops below 13 degrees from June to May every year, the tortoise begins to hibernate until the temperature rises to 15 degrees. Hibernating turtles can't eat or move, but sleep.

The easiest way to hibernate is to move the tortoise to a dark and quiet place indoors, hibernate in shallow water (the water has just passed through the shell) and change the water once a month. Try not to disturb the tortoise except changing the water. Be careful that the temperature should not be lower than 6 degrees, otherwise it will endanger the life of the tortoise.
