Helmsman. The helmsman is the only one who controls the direction of the Chaoshan dragon boat. The helmsman doesn't need to participate in dragon boat rowing, so the position of the helmsman is the least labor-saving, but the helmsman must be good at water. When rowing a dragon boat, the helmsman is required to stand firm, control the direction and not deviate. There are two kinds of dragon boats in Chaoshan: "fake dragon" and "real dragon". A "fake dragon" is a "upturned boat" with two sharp points, or a headless mortar without a faucet and a dragon's tail. "True Dragon" is a dragon boat with a dragon head, a dragon neck, a dragon body and a dragon tail. The hull and the side of the ship are painted in different colors. The one with a red beard is called Red Dragon, the one with a yellow beard is called Huanglong, and the one with a blue beard is called Qinglong.
