Introduction of Yibin Dialect

The dialect used in Yibin, Sichuan is a branch of Sichuan dialect, similar to Luzhou dialect. Yibin is located in the south of Sichuan Province, at the junction of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, with Luzhou City in the east, Zhaotong City in Yunnan Province in the south, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture and Leshan City in the west and Zigong City in the north. Yibin mainly uses Sichuan dialect, the official dialect of the northern Chinese language family, and retains a lot of ancient Chinese pronunciation. In southwest mandarin, it belongs to Minjiang community, including Hakka dialect and Hunan dialect. Because there are Yi and Miao people in the surrounding mountainous areas, as well as a few ethnic groups such as Hui and Mongolian, a very small number of local people use Miao language. Yibin dialect can be divided into northern Minjiang dialect, Junlian dialect and Wangchang dialect (dialect island).
