The difference between reading, speaking and writing is not a junior high school problem.

In this case, say is more common, meaning "show and write". Reading and writing are not appropriate. Reading means reading more, and writing means writing more.

Symbols, time and readings on instruments should be used as they say. They are not interchangeable.
