Why do I think Wuzhen is not suitable for budget travel at the moment?

In May this year, I was lucky enough to visit Wuzhen.

That time we took the high-speed train from Hangzhou to Tongxiang. When I first arrived in Tongxiang, I thought of Tao Yuanming, an elegant scholar who loved chrysanthemums, and then thought of Daisy. After all, it is a professional town that produces chrysanthemums. After exiting the station, we followed the signs and found the target bus. Most of the people in the bus were young people, couples, or close friends. They all seemed to want to share the most beautiful scenery with the people they cared about most. Maybe the meaning of life is sharing.

It took about 40 minutes of bumpy bus ride to reach Wuzhen Scenic Area. I clearly remember that although I was crowded in the bus, there were many promotional slogans along the road, but they were not so obvious. The general content was "Wuzhen Become the permanent site of the World Internet Conference." The emphasis of this slogan lies on the word "permanent". As a local, I feel very honored. After all, this opportunity is hard-won and rare.

When we arrived at our destination, we discovered that the scenic spots were divided into East Gate and West Gate, which were still closed. It’s all my fault that I didn’t do a good job of planning before setting off, thinking it was an open attraction. But it didn’t matter. At that time, I heard that Xizha was bigger and more fun than Dongzha, so I didn’t buy a scenic spot package and only chose Dongzha Scenic Area.

We arrived at Dongzha at 2:30 in the afternoon and asked about the price of the B&B inside. I couldn’t decide, so I finally found an antique theme inn outside the scenic area. It was probably off-season, not expensive, and had just been renovated. Chic, clean and comfortable.

At around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, I bought a ticket and entered the scenic spot. It was just before the start of the human-machine Go battle. Some guests were checking in one after another. I was just a tourist and didn't pay much attention to the details.

As soon as you enter the scenic spot, you can see the water and the black boats, which are quite similar to people sleeping on the water. Walking along the river, the antique stone paths and old cabins all exude the unique charm of the Jiangnan water town. , the air is filled with the ancient atmosphere of a deep mansion. The breeze was blowing, making me feel uncomfortable.

Walking on the moss-covered stone steps, I couldn't help but think of "Once Upon a Time". The old plot of the TV series reappeared over and over again in my memory, and I looked forward to the romantic plot reappearing.

However, no matter which angle I look at, I cannot rule out the beautiful photos of Wuzhen on the Internet. Maybe I am not using a professional camera, or the artificial elements here are too strong, or the commercial atmosphere is too strong.

I still feel that this place is not suitable for budget travel. Because of the closed nature of the scenic spot and the business model, Wuzhen is destined to be of high quality and must take the road of commercialization. The aesthetic and refreshing route is no longer possible. Of course, tourists can travel on a budget like me, but they just won’t be able to feel the morning dew in the Jiangnan water town, taste the authentic dishes, and experience the beauty of “the last person sleeping on the water”.

Life is both long and short. I believe that we ordinary people will not visit a place as poetic and picturesque as Wuzhen many times in our lives, nor will we give up visiting it. Therefore, in line with the purpose of only playing once, do you think it is acceptable to travel on a budget? If you can’t stay in a B&B in Dongzhali or eat the exquisite dishes in the scenic spot, isn’t this trip in vain?

I don’t simply think that you can’t travel on a budget and have fun. However, in Wuzhen, traveling on a budget is really not fun for the time being. When it comes to travel, I prefer light luxury. I remember when I was in college, I went on a budget trip to Fenghuang Ancient Town in Hunan. That time I took the green train from Guangdong for more than ten hours. That time I ate bread while shopping. That time I stayed in a remote B&B worth tens of yuan. It was really It's not fun, and without certain material support, no matter how beautiful the scenery is, it won't be impressive.

After a trip, there is still a difference between spending a few thousand yuan and tens of thousands of yuan. Quantitative changes lead to qualitative changes. Of course, I don’t advocate that spending more money is good. After all, just go out and have fun.

Therefore, I still suggest that you work hard to make money on weekdays and not be too frugal when traveling. Traveling on a budget sometimes loses the meaning of travel.
