Rural online retail sales have increased steadily.

In 20021year, the national rural online retail sales exceeded 2 trillion yuan, reaching 2.05 trillion yuan, up 1 1.3% year-on-year. In the first half of 2022, the national rural online retail sales reached 975.93 billion yuan, up 2.5% year-on-year.

The top three categories of online retail sales in rural areas in 20021year were clothing, shoes, hats, needles, textiles, daily necessities and furniture, accounting for 29.4 1%, 18.55% and 87.77% of the online retail sales of rural physical goods respectively.

The scale of rural e-commerce in the eastern region is leading

By region, the rural online retail sales in the eastern, central, western and northeastern regions accounted for 78.7%, 13.0%, 6.5% and 1.8% of the national rural online retail sales respectively. In terms of growth rate, the rural retail sales in the central region grew fastest, followed by the northeast region, and the western region grew slowest.

In terms of provinces, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Hebei and Shandong ranked the top five in rural online retail sales, accounting for 74. 1% of the national rural online retail sales, and the top ten provinces accounted for 89.9%. From the perspective of growth rate, the growth rate of rural online retail sales in Jiangxi, Guangdong and Fujian provinces is relatively fast, all above 20%.

The development foundation of rural e-commerce has been continuously enhanced.

The increasing number of rural netizens has laid a foundation for the development of rural e-commerce in China. According to the data of China Internet Network Information Center, as of June 2022, the number of rural netizens in China was 239 million, accounting for 27.9% of the total netizens.

In 20021year, the existing administrative villages in China will realize "broadband access to every village". In April 2022, five ministries and commissions, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, jointly issued the Key Points of Digital Village Development in 2022, proposing that by the end of the year, the 5G network will cover key towns and some key administrative villages. As of June, the Internet penetration rate in rural areas of China reached 58.8%, which was 1.2 percentage points higher than that in 20021and 12.
