Construction History

Guangzhou Prefecture in front of Huangchuan today. Guangzhou was established by Liang in the Southern Dynasty, and its administrative seat was Guangcheng (now Guangshan). It can be traced back to the Wei Dynasty in the Three Kingdoms. It was called Qiyang County, and the county was named Dayang, which was the county government. From the Tang and Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasty, it was Dayang County in Rigang Prefecture, Rixian Prefecture, or Jiangzhou, to name a few. Geyang County was changed to Dingcheng County in the Sui Dynasty. In the first year of Taiji of the Tang Dynasty (712), it was moved to Dingcheng (today's Huangchuan), and it was reduced to Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and the name of Guangzhou was established and unchanged. In the early Ming Dynasty, Dingcheng Province became a state, and it was changed to belong to Fengyang Prefecture of Nanzhili, but it still belonged to Runing Prefecture. The four counties of Guangshan, Gushi, Shangcheng and Xi were promoted to Zhili Prefecture in the second year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty (1742), and the counties remained as before. In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Guangzhou was abolished and renamed Huangchuan County, which belongs to Ruyang Road. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it belonged to Huangchuan Prefecture and was stationed in this county. In 1952, it was merged into Xinyang Prefecture and remains unchanged to this day.

Huangchuan Prefecture

Huangchuan Prefecture was originally the first and second prefectures of Eyu District in the Central Plains Liberated Area. In 1949, it was merged into Huangchuan Prefecture, with the special agency stationed in Huangchuan County. It governs 7 counties including Huangchuan, Guangshan, Xinxian (originally renamed as Fuxian), Shangcheng, Gushi, Luoshan and Xixian. In 1952, Huaibin County (located in Wulongji) was established from the three counties of Gushi, Huangchuan and Xixian. In the same year, the Huangchuan Prefecture was abolished, and eight counties including Huangchuan, Guangshan, Xinxian, Shangcheng, Gushi, Luoshan, Xixian, and Huaibin, which were part of the original Huangchuan Prefecture, were merged into the Xinyang Prefecture.

Previous compilations of chronicles

Before the Yuan Dynasty, there were many old chronicles in Guangzhou, but they are all lost. (Refer to Zhang Guogan's "Research on Ancient Chinese Local Chronicles")) The Ming Dynasty was first compiled during the Hongzhi period, and Zhang Hui, the prefect of Zhizhou, majored in it. The book has ten volumes and is recorded in "Qianqingtang Bibliography" and "Ming History·Yiwenzhi". Zhang Hui only knows that he took office during the Hongzhi period, but there is no examination of him. It was repaired again during the Jiajing period and compiled by Ge Chen, referring to the time sequence. Gechen Yu Ziliang, a Juren of Gushi County, was the general magistrate of Guangzhou at that time. He was keen on compiling chronicles. In addition to compiling the chronicles of this state, he also compiled the chronicles of Gushi County, and his books have been handed down to this day. Yu Shi, a native of Guangshan, was a Jinshi in the 17th year of Jiajing (1538), and served as the minister of the Ministry of War in Nanjing. There is a biography in "History of the Ming Dynasty".

The "Chao Shi Baowen Tang Bibliography" records a kind of "Guangzhou Chronicle", which is suspected to be one of the two books above. It was revised in the third year of Wanli (1575) by Chen Ye, the magistrate of the state, and Chen Zhang, a native of Yanzhou. Chen Ye was born in Longxi, Fujian, and took office in the second year of Wanli. Chen Zhang, Juren, served as a member of the Ministry of Justice and Foreign Affairs. "Mai Wang Guan Bibliography" and "Dansheng Tang Bibliography" each contain one type of "Guangzhou Chronicle" in four volumes, which is suspected to be this book. The above three books are all lost. There were six revisions in the Qing Dynasty: Shunzhi and Kangxi each revised it once, Qianlong and Guangxu each revised it twice (a kind of "Guangzhou Local Chronicle" by Guangxu), and all the books are preserved. During the Republic of China, county chronicles were compiled. It took many years to complete the draft. Only one volume was printed and then stopped. Now only the printed version remains, and the remaining drafts are lost.

Since the Ming Dynasty, ten types of records have been compiled, seven of which survive; three have been lost, all of which are Mingzhi.
