brief introduction

According to the Records of Quanzhou, in the Tang Dynasty, Huang Shougong, the owner of the mulberry garden here, dreamed that a monk wanted him to give up land to build a temple, which was inconvenient to refuse, so he made a condition: if the mulberry trees in the garden could leave Bai Lianhua within three days, they would give alms. Unexpectedly, within three days, this mulberry tree really left Bai Lianhua, and Huang Shougong also gave up his land as a temple as agreed, hence the name "Lotus Temple". Up to now, there is an ancient mulberry tree in the west of the temple, which is very old, so Kaiyuan Temple is also called "Sanglian Dharma Boundary".

Kaiyuan Temple has a rigorous layout and magnificent architecture. The main buildings include the Heavenly King Hall, the Ursa Major Hall, the Tan Jie, the Sutra Pavilion, the Water and Land Temple, the Tan Yue Temple and the Zhunti Zen Forest.
