Which ethnic group is called "the people who live in the mountains"

Due to my work, I was fortunate enough to accompany Haier’s inspection and support education project team in poverty-stricken areas to the Wa area in Yunnan.

Before arriving, I collected information about various people in the Wa area from the Internet. This is a kind-hearted minority with a long history. They worship gods and believe in their own religious culture, and are called "people who live in the mountains."

After arriving, I was attracted by their traditional and unique culture, and was also shocked by their poor education. Judging from their self-created characters and carved and polished characteristic silver ornaments, I can’t imagine such an intelligent nation surviving with the most primitive moral concepts.

The hospitality of these kind-hearted mountain people to guests coming from afar is beyond our imagination, and they try their best to provide their best hospitality and food. I was touched by their simplicity, but also so heartbroken. These simple people are accustomed to a life of working day after day, but what about the children who are curious about the mineral water bottles we drink from? They are flowers that have not yet bloomed. They should have a better life in the future, instead of working like their tribesmen for generations. What makes us feel even more sad is their schools, their teachers, and these children who are eager to acquire knowledge.

Over the years, coupled with earthquakes and natural disasters, the only schools in the village are a few thatched cottages. dilapidated. However, the children were extremely happy. A little girl timidly said to me, this is already very good, there was no leakage when it rained last time... I don't know how to answer her, how to talk to her, how to face her so clear soul.

There is also the only teacher in the village who can teach any grade, with a green face and strong Mandarin mixed with dialects. I suddenly felt that he was so noble, using his only knowledge to enlighten the hearts of so many children.

Slogans such as "To get rid of poverty, give priority to the development of education" can be seen everywhere in the Wa area. I really hope that these educational projects of Haier can be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people and illuminate the hearts of children. What a hope.

Tomorrow, they can also have bright classrooms, no longer the shabby thatched cottage; they can also have excellent teachers, not the teachers who are still children; they can also understand the outside world. The world knows the Internet and how fast this society is developing, rather than the life of our hereditary ancestors.
