The Origin of Winter Carnival in Quebec

Quebec Winter Carnival originated from 1894. At first, it was just a well-planned celebration to let local residents relax in the cold winter, and there was no certain organization and activity mode.

At 1955, a group of local businessmen found that if carnival is held regularly every winter, it is a good way to stimulate the stagnant economy in the long winter.

Since then, the grand Quebec Winter Carnival has not only brought unprecedented business opportunities, but also become the third largest industry in Quebec City. It is recognized as the largest winter carnival in the world and the third largest carnival in the world after Rio de Janeiro and New Orleans.
