What's the difference between sculpture casting copper and forging copper carving?

Cast copper sculpture:

Copper carvings have a history of thousands of years and are generally cast by lost wax method. Simply put, copper (brass, copper, bronze) is melted into a liquid meeting certain requirements in a high-temperature furnace, and then poured into a mold. After cooling, solidification and cleaning, copper sculpture artworks with the same shape and size as the mold are obtained.

Forged bronze sculpture:

Forging copper is a different process from casting copper. It is made on a copper plate. This process is repeated by taking advantage of the characteristics of copper plate softening after heating and hardening after hammering, and finally circular sculptures, such as forged copper reliefs, sculptures or other daily and industrial articles, are made. Compared with the cast bronze carving, the forged bronze carving has stricter requirements on materials, with copper plate as the main raw material and steel skeleton as the support. Some complex sculptures need to be forged with one-to-one molds, and some simple sculptures can be forged.
