Introduction of stator grounding protection

Stator grounding protection is a kind of relay protection for large generator sets, which is mainly used to protect the stator winding grounding fault of generators. When the stator winding is grounded, the potential of the fault point to the ground will form a fault current. This current will form a loop through the air gap and the stator core, thus generating a large short-circuit current in the air gap, leading to overheating of the winding.

If the protection device acts in time to eliminate the fault, it can avoid the overheating of the winding and cause greater damage. At the same time, the safe operation of the generator set will also be seriously affected. Therefore, stator grounding protection plays an important role in generator set relay protection.
