Introduction to Chinatown

Chinatown is where China people live in other cities.

The Tang Dynasty played an important role in the history of China. In the Tang Dynasty, China's economic and cultural opening made China one of the more developed countries in the world. At that time, "Chinatown" was an area where China people lived in other countries' cities, and its purpose was to facilitate contact with fellow villagers.

Chinatown was originally named "Datang Street". Today in Yokohama, Japan, there is still "Datang Street".

In modern times, 1928, overseas Chinese in the Philippines built the "Overseas Chinese Yishan" to commemorate the sage Chen Jiageng who opened Chinatown in Manila. This overseas Chinese Yishan covers an area of more than 20 hectares, and more than 8,000 bones of overseas Chinese are buried, many of them ancestors who died in Chinatown. Knowing this history, it is no wonder that people feel solemn as soon as they step into Chinatown.
