In October 1934, more than 86,000 members of the Red Army of the Central Red Army evacuated the revolutionary base areas of southern Jiangxi and southern Fujian, broke through the numerous defense lines of the Kuomintang reactionaries, and began the 25,000-mile Long March. From November 5th to 7th, the Red Army arrived in the Wushan and Jiufeng areas of Lechang via Nanxiong and Renhua in Guangdong from southern Jiangxi. Lin Biao, commander of the First Red Army Corps, and political commissar Nie Rongzhen covered the central column from the north of Jiufeng and Wuzhi Peak. of mountain passes. The Military Commission ordered Lin Biao and Nie Rongzhen to first occupy Jiufeng Mountain and monitor the enemies of Jiufeng Xu at Guanyin Mountain near Chaliu Village. However, at this critical moment, Lin Biao disobeyed the orders of the Military Commission and wanted to go north along the river via Langtian, and had a dispute with Nie Rongzhen. After discussion, part of the Red Army Corps entered Longwangtan, Changchangkeng, Shangxikeng, Taozhukeng, Jiangyuan, and Wendong from Yanggutian Village in Longshankou, and launched a fierce battle with the Kuomintang troops at Jiufeng Tea Guanyin Mountain. The Red Army's Long March passed through Lechang, leaving behind many revolutionary cultural relics such as Red Army slogans and heroic battle hymns.

At present, there are Red Army sculptures, Red Army monuments, Red Army Road, Red Army Long March historical and cultural publicity boards and other attractions in the scenic area, which guide tourists to wear Red Army uniforms, walk the Red Army Road, eat Red Army meals, and listen to the stories of the Red Army Long March. A series of activities to trace the footsteps of the Red Army’s Long March and be influenced by the revolutionary spirit of the Red Army.
