Hangzhou municipal government has taken a series of measures to improve the water quality of tap water. For example, the Hangzhou Municipal Government has launched the "Asian Games Water Environment Improvement Action", and in 2022, it will complete the tap water renovation of 149 urban villages and old communities.

Hangzhou has also established a complete drinking water source protection system, including eight key river basins such as Qiantang River, Tiaoxi River and Fuchun River. All these basins have implemented the protection scheme of "one source and one policy" to ensure the safety of drinking water.
