Where is Jinshanzui Fishing Village?
Jinshanzui fishing village is the earliest fishing village on the coastal land of Shanghai and the last fishing village in Shanghai. It is close to Hangzhou Bay, on the north side of Shanghai-Hangzhou Expressway, just one step away from the sea, and faces three golden mountains across the sea. A wide variety of delicious seafood is a major feature of the fishing village. Seafood food street and fisherman's inn snacks have their own characteristics, attracting more and more tourists.
Jinshanzui is a famous fishing port in Shanghai, and the marine fishery is very prosperous in history. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, there were 36 shops and workshops in the town, and there were more than 10 fishing inns only dealing in fishing goods. In spring and autumn, big fish and jellyfish flourished, and tourists and businessmen came to watch the tide, buy fish and do business, and the seawall was crowded with people. In 1980s, Jinshanzui fishing village reached its peak, with fishermen 1 1,000 and 45 fishing boats 1 1,650 tons, and the annual fishing output 1 1,600,000 tons. The fishing range also goes from Hangzhou Bay to the ocean, south to Diaoyu Island and north to Jeju Island in South Korea. This is a red flag on the fishery front in Shanghai.
However, since the late 1980s, due to the construction of many chemical enterprises, a large amount of sewage has flowed into Hangzhou Bay, coupled with overfishing, fishery resources have gradually dried up, resulting in the situation that fishing boats are placed on the beach and fishermen go ashore. Most fishermen bid farewell to the sea where they lived. Some work, some do business, and some are obsessed with the sea. While insisting on offshore fishing, they started farming on land and fish processing. Some fishermen took advantage of the unique natural conditions and opened dozens of seafood restaurants along the Shanghai-Hangzhou Highway, forming a distinctive seafood street.
At present, Jinshanzui Old Street has been rebuilt, and there are exhibition halls, restaurants and hotels with marine cultural characteristics such as fishing village museum, fishing gear development, painter's studio and fisherman's inn. There are also Jinshanzui Seafood City and Seafood Street. As a tourist attraction on the Golden Coast of Jinshan, the ancient fishing village has been revived.
