Social Responsibility of China UnionPay

With the rapid development of China's economy, China UnionPay has pioneered and developed a bank card organization with China characteristics since its establishment. Earthquake Relief in Ludian, Yunnan Province: On August 3, 20 14, a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in Ludian County, Yunnan Province. After the earthquake, China UnionPay immediately launched an emergency mechanism to ensure the safe and stable operation of the bank card interbank transaction system, and donated 5 million yuan to Ludian earthquake-stricken area through china charity federation and China Women's Development Foundation for resettlement, medical assistance and post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.

UnionPay standard "China Red" charity credit card: On July 25th, 2008, China UnionPay and several commercial banks jointly issued UnionPay standard "China Red" charity credit card. This card represents an innovative and sustainable charity model. As long as the cardholder actively applies for and swipes the card, China UnionPay and the issuing bank will donate to the "China Red" activity of the China Red Cross Foundation.

The earthquake disaster is merciless. UnionPay has love: On May 12, 2008, an earthquake of magnitude 8 occurred in Wenchuan, Sichuan, and millions of people were affected. China UnionPay donated money to the disaster area through the Red Cross Foundation for the first time, and the donation amount has increased to 7190,000 yuan; In addition, UnionPay has also opened fast donation channels such as credit cards and online payment for charities at all levels, so as to quickly gather love donations.

UnionPay Inspirational Scholarship Fund: In June 2007, China UnionPay and china charity federation jointly established the UnionPay Inspirational Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance to outstanding students who have been admitted to universities but have poor families. During the three years from 2007 to 2009, China UnionPay provided a total of 6 million yuan for poor students.

At the beginning of 2008, southern China suffered a once-in-a-century freezing disaster, and China UnionPay donated 1 10,000 yuan to the disaster area through the China Red Cross Foundation.

UnionPay Hope Primary School: In 2005, China UnionPay donated 500,000 yuan to build a Hope Primary School for local children in Longkou Town, Xingguo County, Jiangxi Province; In 2008, China UnionPay joined hands with member banks in Hunan Province to donate 400,000 yuan to build two UnionPay Love Hope Primary Schools in poverty-stricken areas in Hunan.

Fight against SARS: In 2003, China UnionPay, which was established less than 1 year, donated 2 million yuan through the Red Cross; Subsequently, he donated RMB 900,000 to the special relief fund for fighting SARS, and won the "China Red Cross Charity Medal" in the same year.

China STD/AIDS Prevention Foundation: In 2004, China UnionPay responded to the "12 1 Joint Action Plan" of 22 academicians of China Academy of Sciences and called on all sectors of society to support the fight against AIDS, and donated 200,000 yuan to the China STD/AIDS Prevention Foundation to support the prevention and treatment of AIDS in China and to donate orphans who lost their parents due to AIDS. In June of the same year, Wang Longde, Vice Minister of Health, awarded the "Humanistic Care Award" to China UnionPay.

Tsunami in Southeast Asia: In early 2005, a rare tsunami hit Southeast Asia, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless. Employees of China UnionPay raised a donation of 245,000 yuan.

Bank Card Special Service for Migrant Workers: At the end of 2005, led by the People's Bank of China, the Bank Card Special Service for Migrant Workers was launched to help solve the problem of migrant workers returning home with money. China UnionPay, together with commercial banks, actively participated in and promoted the implementation. The business has been opened nationwide, covering more than 60,000 rural financial outlets of rural credit cooperatives and postal savings banks at or below the county level, enabling farmers' friends to "save money at work and withdraw money at home" through UnionPay cards. This "rural financial portal" with UnionPay card as the carrier and connecting urban and rural areas not only brings convenience and security for rural migrant workers to bring money back to their hometowns, but also has great significance for promoting rural financial development, supporting the construction of new socialist countryside and solving the "three rural issues".
